Notes on the genus Ismarus Haliday (Hymenoptera, Diapriidae) from China.

ABSTRACT: The Chinese species of the genus Ismarus Haliday, 1835, are revised for the first time. Three new species from the Oriental region of China and belonging to Ismarus halidayi-group are described and illustrated: Ismarus longussp. n., Ismarus nigritrochantersp. n. and Ismarus parvicellussp. n. Two species are newly reported for the Chinese fauna: Ismarus dorsiger (Haliday, 1831) and Ismarus halidayi Foerster, 1850. A key to the Chinese species of the genus is provided. The type specimens are deposited in the Hymenopteran Collection of South China Agricultural University, Guangzhou (SCAU).

An illustrated key to Neotropical species of the genus Meteorus Haliday (Hymenoptera, Braconidae, Euphorinae).

Project description:A comprehensive key for 75 species of Meteorus distributed across 15 Neotropical countries is presented. Eleven new species from Bolivia, Costa Rica and Ecuador are described: Meteorusalbistigma, Meteoruscarolae, Meteoruseurysaccavorus, Meteorusfallacavus, Meteorusflavistigma, Meteorushaimowitzi, Meteorusmagnoculus, Meteorusmartinezi, Meteorusmicrocavus, Meteorusnoctuivorus and Meteorusorion. Expanded range distributions are recorded for Meteorusandreae, Meteorusfarallonensis, Meteorusguineverae, Meteorusjerodi, Meteoruskraussi, Meteoruspapiliovorus and Meteorusquimbayensis. The host of Meteorusjerodi is reported for the first time: a noctuid larva feeding on Asteraceae. Meteoruspapiliovorus is recorded attacking Papilionidae larvae in Ecuador, therefore displaying a similar host family preference as formerly documented from Costa Rica and Colombia.

Project description:Chorebus (Stiphrocera) hexomyzae sp. n. (Hymenoptera, Braconidae, Alysiinae, Dacnusini) is described and illustrated. It was reared from twig galls of Hexomyza caraganae Gu (Diptera, Agromyzidae) on Caragana korshinskii Kom. f. (Fabaceae) in Ningxia and Inner Mongolia (NW China). A partial key to related or similar Chorebus species is provided.

Project description:BackgroundThe monotypic genus Acanopsilus (Hymenoptera: Diapriidae), is hitherto known only from Europe, where it is widely distributed.New informationThe genus is here recorded for the first time from South Korea and China, which constitutes the first formal record of the species from the entire Eastern Palaearctic region. A detailed redescription and photographs of Acanopsilus heterocerus (Haliday, 1857) are provided. Also, Acanopsilus brevinervis Kieffer, 1909 is proposed as junior synonym of Anommatium ashmeadi Mayr, 1856 (syn. nov.).

Review of species of the genus Heterospilus Haliday, 1836 (Hymenoptera, Braconidae, Doryctinae) from the Korean Peninsula.

Project description:This article reviews the species of the genus Heterospilus Haliday from South Korea. Nine species, Heterospiluschinjuensis sp. nov., H.gajwaensis sp. nov., H.heulriensis sp. nov., H.hyungkeunleei sp. nov., H.maseongus sp. nov., H.suriensis sp. nov., H taehoani sp. nov., H.weolchulsanus sp. nov., and H.yeogiensis sp. nov., are described as new to science. The species Heterospilusfujianensis Tang, Belokobylskij, He & Chen, 2013 is recorded for the fauna of Korea for the first time; H.ater Fischer, 1960 is synonymised under H.austriacus (Szépligeti, 1906). Heterospilusrubicola Fischer, 1960 and H.corsicus (Marshall, 1888) are excluded from the fauna of Korea. A key to all Heterospilus species known from the Korean Peninsula is compiled.

Project description:A new species of Calogalesus Kieffer, 1912, Calogalesus sinicussp. n., is described and illustrated, collected from a Chinese prickly ash (Zanthoxylum bungeanum Maxim.) orchard in Yunnan province of China. This is the third described species of the genus in the World. The new species can be distinguished from the other two described Calogalesus species by the head profile, proportions of the antennal segments, tridentate mandible, and mandible length. A key to World species of the genus is provided.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Trichopria drosophilae (Hymenoptera: Diapriidae).

Project description:Trichopria drosophilae (Hymenoptera: Diapriidae) is an important pupal endoparasitoid of Drosophila species, which has been found to be an ideal biocontrol agent to D. suzukii. In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of T. drosophilae (GeneBank accession number: MN966974) was sequenced using Illumina HiSeq X Ten system. The mitochondrial genome is 16,375 bp long and comprises 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes and 2 ribosomal RNA genes. Among them, 24 genes are in majority strand, while the others are in minority strand. The nucleotide composition of A, G, C, T is 44.9%, 6.4%, 5.6%, 43.2% respectively. We also performed a phylogenetic analysis with other known mitochondrial genomes within four families that have been shown to parasitize drosophilid species. The result shows that T. drosophilae is closely related to Ismarus sp.

Project description:Three species of the genus Xenocerogria Merkl, 2007 have been recorded in China, Xenocerogriafeai (Borchmann, 1911), Xenocerogriaignota (Borchmann, 1941) and Xenocerogriaruficollis (Borchmann, 1912). Xenoceraxanthisma Chen, 2002 is proposed as a junior synonym of Xenocerogriaruficollis. Lectotype of Xenocerogriaignota is designated, and the species is transferred to the genus Lagria Fabricius, 1775. New Chinese province records of Xenocerogriaruficollis are provided.
