A triclinic polymorph of bis-(?(2)-ethane-thiol-ato)-1:2?S:S;3:4?S:S-(?(4)-disulfido-1:2:3:4?S:S:S':S')tetra-kis-[tricarbonyl-iron(II)](2 Fe-Fe).

ABSTRACT: Next to the monoclinic polymorph [Cheng et al. (2005 ?). Acta Cryst. E61, m892-m894], the triclinic title compound, [Fe(4)(C(2)H(5)S)(2)(S(2))(CO)(12)], is the second known form of this composition. The structure is composed of an [Fe(2)(C(2)H(5)S)(S)(CO)(6)] subcluster, which is linked to its counterpart by an inversion centre located at the mid-point of the central disulfide bond. The Fe(2)S(2) core of each subcluster exhibits a butterfly-like shape, with two S atoms bridging two Fe atoms. In the subcluster, each Fe atom is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral coordination by three terminal carbonyl C atoms, two S atoms and one Fe atom. The crystal packing is accomplished through van der Waals inter-actions.

The independent Fe(2)S(2) fragment [Fe-Fe = 2.527?(1)?Å] is in a butterfly conformation, and each Fe atom displays a pseudo-square-pyramidal coordination geometry. The phosphane group occupies an apical position [Fe-P = 2.2670?(14)?Å]. In the crystal, weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into chains along [110].

Project description:The title compound, [Fe(4)(C(5)H(5)OS)(2)S(CO)(12)], was prepared by the direct reaction of Fe(3)(CO)(12) and 2-furyl-methane-thiol in tetra-hydro-furan. Desulfurization took place readily to form an Fe(4)S(3) cluster. The mol-ecule consists of two similar [(μ-2-C(4)H(3)O-CH(2)S)Fe(2)(CO)(6)] moieties joined to a spiro-type four-coordinate μ(4)-S atom such that this bridging sulfur is tetra-hedrally coordinated to the four Fe atoms. In each diiron subcluster core, the 2-furyl-methane-thiol-ate ligand bridges the two Fe atoms.

Project description:The title compound, [Re(4)(μ(3)-OH)(4)(CO)(12)]·4C(5)H(5)N, crystallizes with one tetranuclear rhenium(I) cubane-like molecule and four pyridine mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. The coordination environment of each Re(I) atom is distorted octahedral. Four intra-molecular O-H⋯N and four inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen-bond inter-actions are observed. Relatively strong hydrogen bonds are found between the hydrogen-bond donor (μ(3)-OH) and acceptor (basic N atom of pyridine), with N⋯O distances between 2.586 (10) and 2.628 (10) Å. Inter-cube distances of 9.873 (2) and 12.376 (3) Å are observed.

Project description:The title compound, [Fe(2)(C(14)H(10)NS(2))(2)(CO)(6)], was synthesized as a structural and biochemical model for the active site of [FeFe]-hydrogenase. The bond lengths (Fe-Fe, Fe-S and Fe-C) and angles (C-Fe-Fe and Fe-S-Fe) are within expected ranges. The S?S distance [2.9069?(12)?Å] and the dihedral angle between two Fe-S-Fe planes [78.5?(3)°] of the butterfly-shaped Fe(2)S(2) core are enlarged compared with related bridged dithiol-ate diiron analogues. The calculated 4-benzothia-zolebenzyl best planes are almost parallel [dihedral angle = 3.7?(7)°].

Project description:Single crystals of the title compound, [K(C18H36N2O6)][Mn(C44H24Cl4N4)(C7H7S)]·2C4H8O, were obtained by the solvent evaporation method. The MnII cation is coordinated by four pyrrole N atoms (Np) of the porphyrin ring and one S atom of the apical 4-methyl-benzene-thiol-ate ligand with the average Mn-Np and the apical Mn-S bond lengths being 2.160 (9) and 2.4642 (8) Å, respectively. Two tetra-hydro-furan solvent mol-ecules and a potassium cation chelated inside a [2.2.2]cryptand (4,7,13,16,21,24-hexa-oxa-1,10-di-aza-bicyclo[8.8.8]hexa-cosa-ne) are also present.

Dichloridobis(pyridine-2-thiol-ato-?²N,S)tin(IV): a new polymorph.

Project description:The title compound, [SnCl?(C?H?NS)?], is the product of reaction of 2,2'-dipyridyl disulfide with tin tetra-chloride. The Sn(IV) atom adopts a distorted octa-hedral geometry, with the two bidentate pyridine-2-thiol-ate ligands forming two planar four-membered chelate rings. The two Sn-Cl, two Sn-N and two Sn-S bonds are in cis, cis and trans configurations, respectively. The crystal grown from acetonitrile represents a new monoclinic polymorph in space group C2/c with the mol-ecule having twofold rotational symmetry, the Sn(IV) atom lying on the twofold axis. The mol-ecular structure of the monoclinic polymorph is very close to that of the triclinic polymorph studied previously in space group P-1, the mol-ecule occupying a general position [Masaki & Matsunami (1976 ?). Bull. Chem. Soc. Jpn, 49, 3274-3279; Masaki et al. (1978 ?). Bull. Chem. Soc. Jpn, 51, 3298-3301]. Apparently, the formation of the two polymorphs is determined by the different systems of inter-molecular inter-actions. In the crystal of the monoclinic polymorph, mol-ecules are bound into ribbons along the c axis by C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, whereas in the crystal of the triclinic polymorph, mol-ecules form chains along the a axis by attractive S?S inter-actions. The crystal studied was a pseudo-merohedral twin; the refined BASF value is 0.221?(1).

Calcium acamprosate: a triclinic polymorph.

Project description:The title compound, poly[bis-(?(3)-4-acetamido-propane-sulfon-ato)-calcium], [Ca(C(5)H(10)NO(4)S)(2)](n), is a triclinic polymorph of the previously reported monoclinic structure [Toffoli et al. (1988 ?). Acta Cryst. C44, 1493-1494]. The triclinic modification was found to have an all-trans configuration of the acetamido-propane chain, in contrast with the monoclinic polymorph which shows an angle of 74.66?(8)° between the S-C-C-C chain plane and that of the amide group. The Ca(2+) cation is situated on an inversion centre and is hexa-coordinated by six O atoms belonging to different anions in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. This arrangement leads to a layered structure parallel to (011). The layers are held together by N-H?O hydrogen bonds and by short C-H?O inter-actions, both involving the sulfonate O atoms not coordinated to the Ca(2+) cations. The structure was determined from a crystal twinned by non-merohedry [twin law ([Formula: see text]00, 0[Formula: see text]0, -0.335 -0.85 1), with a fractional contribution of the minor twin domain of 46.7?(1)%].
