4,4'-Methylenebis{N-[(E)-quinolin-2-yl-methylidene]aniline}.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(33)H(24)N(4), was prepared by the reaction of a bifunctional aromatic diamine (4,4'-diamino-diphenyl-methane) and an aldehyde (quinoline-2-carboxaldhyde). The mol-ecule consists of two nearly planar (or r.m.s. deviation = 0.017?Å) 4-methyl-N-[(E)-quinolin-2-yl-methyl-idene]aniline moieties, which are linked by the methyl-ene group. The angle between the mean planes of the two benzene rings connected to the methyl-ene group is 77.86?(11)°.

Project description:The title Schiff base compound, C(32)H(22)N(4)O, was prepared by a reaction of 4,4'-diamino-diphenyl ether and 2-quinoline-carboxaldehyde. The mol-ecule consists of two 4-{N-[(E)-quinolin-2-yl-methyl-idene]amino}-phenyl units linked by an oxygen bridge. The dihedral angles between two benzene rings and between the two quinoline ring systems are 53.81?(7) and 42.56?(4)°, respectively. Project description:In the title compound, C(18)H(17)ClN(2)O, the quinoline ring system is essentially planar; the r.m.s. deviation for the non-H atoms is 0.04?Å with a maximum deviation from the mean plane of 0.026?(4)?Å for the C atom bonded to the -CH(2)- group. The meth-oxy-substituted benzene ring forms a dihedral angle of 70.22?(4)° with this ring system. The crystal structure can be described as zigzag layers in which the quinoline ring systems are parallel to (011) and molecules are connected via inter-molecular N-H?N hydrogen bonds, forming chains along [100]. The crystal studied was an inversion twin with a 0.86?(5):0.14?(5) domain ratio.

Project description:The title compound, C(33)H(26)N(6)O(2), contains two 3-(quinolin-8-yl)urea groups linked to a diphenyl-methane. The asymmetric unit contains two mol-ecules, A and B. In the crystal, each urea O atom is involved in two N-H?O hydrogen bonds, generating two inter-penetrating three-dimensional sets of mol-ecules.

Project description:The title compound, C(16)H(11)ClN(2), displays a trans configuration across the C=N bond and a transoid arrangement across the quinoline ring and the azomethine C atom. This arrangement facilitates C-H⋯Cl interactions. The packing in the crystal structure is due to inter-molecular C-H⋯π and Cl⋯π (3.52 and 3.84 Å) inter-actions. Project description:In the mononuclear title complex, [HgCl2(C22H17N3)], synthesized from the quinoline-derived Schiff base N (1)-phenyl-N (4)-[(quinolin-2-yl)methyl-idene]benzene-1,4-di-amine (PQMBD) and HgCl2, the coordination sphere around the Hg(2+) atom is distorted tetra-hedral, comprising two Cl atoms [Hg-Cl = 2.3487?(14) and 2.4490?(15)?Å] and two N atom donors from the PQMBD ligand, viz. the quinolyl and the imine N atom [Hg-N = 2.270?(4) and 2.346?(4)?Å, respectively]. The dihedral angle between the two benzene rings attached to the amino group is 43.7?(3)°. In the crystal, N-H?Cl and C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, as well as ?-? stacking inter-actions between one phenyl ring and the pyridine ring of the quinoline moiety of an adjacent mol-ecule [centroid-to-centroid separation = 3.617?(4)?Å] are observed, resulting in a three-dimensional network.

An intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond generates a six-membered ring with an S(6) ring motif. This also contributes to the relative overall near planarity of the mol-ecule [r.m.s. deviation of all 22 non-H atoms = 0.107 (5) Å]. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked through inter-molecular N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, forming chains along the a axis.
