ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(14)H(14)N(2)O, exists as the enol-imine tautomer. A strong intra-molecular hydrogen bond between O and N atoms forms a six-membered ring with an S(6) graph-set motif, which is approximately coplanar with the phenol ring, the inter-planar angle being 3.4?(3)°. In the crystal, inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds and N-H?? inter-actions link the mol-ecules into infinite chains along [100].

Project description:The title Schiff base compound, C(14)H(12)BrClN(2)O, exists in an E configuration with respect to the central C=N double bond. The amino group adopts a pyramidal configuration. The dihedral angle between the two benzene rings is 76.88 (10)° and an intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond forms a six-membered ring, generating an S(6) ring motif. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked into chains along [010] via N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The presence of π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.6244 (12) Å] further stabilizes the crystal structure.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title Schiff base molecule, C25H20N2O, contains two independent mol-ecules. In each mol-ecule, the C=N bond is in an E conformation. The most significant difference between the two mol-ecules is seen for the dihedral angles between the meth-oxy-substituted benzene ring and the two phenyl rings, which are 85.5 (1) and 82.3 (1)° in the first mol-ecule, and 49.0 (1) and 40.4 (1)° in the second. This conformational difference is reflected in the central C=N-C C torsion angle, which is 28.7 (2)° in the first mol-ecule and -29.8 (3)° in the other. In each mol-ecule, there is an intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond.

Project description:In the title compound, C(17)H(20)N(2)O(3), the amino N atom is in a planar environment (sum of angles = 360.0°). All hy-droxy H atoms are involved in hydrogen bonding. In the crystal structure, two O-H?O and an O-H?N(imino) hydrogen bond result in the formation of a three-dimensional network. The latter hydrogen bonding causes distortion of the planarity of the 4-HO-C(6)H(4)-CH=N-C(6)H(4)- fragment by rotation around the =N-C(Ph) bond. The crystal studied was a non-merohedral twin [refined BASF parameter for the major component = 0.5293?(7)].

Project description:The title Schiff base compound, C(10)H(10)Cl(3)NO, was prepared by the condensation of 1-(3,5-dichloro-2-hy-droxy-phen-yl)ethanone with chloro-ethyl-amine. The imine adopts an E configuration with respect to the C=N bond. The H atom of the phenolic OH group is disordered over two positions with site occupation factors of 0.52?(7) and 0.48?(7), respectively, and the major occupancy component is involved in an intramolecular N-H?O hydrogen bond. The compound therefore exists in an iminium-phenolate as well as in the imino-phenol form. In the crystal, mol-ecules are connected by C-H?O and C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds and Cl?Cl inter-actions [3.7864?(9)?Å] into a three-dimensional network. In addition, inter-molecular ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 4.4312?(9)?Å] are observed.
