ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(23)H(18)O(4), is a 1,4-enedione compound which contains a naphthalene ring and a benzene ring. The dihedral angle between the ring systems is 74.9?(2)°. In the crystal, the mol-ecules form ?-? stacking inter-actions between naphthalene rings of inversion-related mol-ecules, with an inter-planar spacing of 3.499?(2)?Å.

Project description:The title compound, C21H24O9, crystallizes with two independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit which are almost centrosymmetrically related to each other. The ethano-ate group in one of the two mol-ecules is disordered over two positions with a site-occupation factor of 0.880?(7) for the major occupied site. In the crystal, the 1,3-diketone group exists in the keto-enol isomeric form due to the stabilizing effect of the intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bond present in this form. The compound packs as a layered structure in which C-H?? and C-H?O inter-actions are present within and between the layers.

In each mol-ecule, the cyclo-hexane ring adopts a chair conformation with equatorial orientation of the substituents, and the conformation is stabilized by two intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming rings of S(6) graph-set motif. One eth-oxy group and one ethyl group are disordered over two sets of sites with refined occupancy ratios of 0.704 (2):0.296 (2) and 0.505 (3):0.495 (3), respectively. In the crystal, a weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen inter-action is observed, involving the O atom of the major component of the disordered eth-oxy group.

Project description:In the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C19H16O2, there are two symmetry-independent mol-ecules (A and B) that differ in the conformation of the ester eth-oxy group. In the crystal, the mol-ecules form inversion dimers via pairs of C-H?O inter-actions. Within the dimers, the anthracenyl units have inter-planar distances of 0.528?(2) and 0.479?(2)?Å for dimers of mol-ecules A and B, respectively. Another short C-H?O contact between symmetry-independent dimers links them into columns parallel to [10-1]. These columns are arranged into (111) layers and there are ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.6446?(15) and 3.6531?(15)?Å] between the anthracenyl units from the neighbouring columns. In addition, there are C-H?? inter-actions between the anthracenyl unit of dimers A and dimers B within the same column.

Project description:The title molecule, C44H30O8, lies about a crystallographic inversion centre located at the centre of the central benzene ring. The benzene rings in the benzoyl and the terephthalate units make dihedral angles of 67.05 (7)° and 57.57 (7)°, respectively, with the naphthalene ring system. There is an intra-molecular C-H⋯O inter-action between the ketonic carbonyl O atom and an H atom on the naphthalene ring system. In the crystal, C-H⋯O inter-action of the benzene ring in the benzoyl group and weak C=O⋯π inter-action [O⋯centroid = 3.375 (2) Å] of the naphthalene ring with the O atom in the ketonic carbonyl group are observed. These inter-actions form layers parallel to the bc plane.
