The mol-ecule contains one chiral C atom but the crystal is racemic. In the crystal, neighboring mol-ecules form a chain along [100] through three weak C-H⋯O inter-actions. Furthermore, a double-stranded structure is formed through weak C-H⋯O inter-actions between two parallel chains.

Project description:The title compound, C21H25NO3, crystallized as a racemic twin in the Sohnke space group P21. In the mol-ecular structure of the title compound, both enanti-omers show a highly similar conformation with the urethane function and the benzoyl group showing an almost perpendicular arrangement [the dihedral angle is 72.46 (8)° in the S-enanti-omer and 76.21 (8)° in the R-enanti-omer]. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules of both enanti-omers show infinite helical arrangements parallel to the b axis formed by weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the phenyl ring of the benzoyl group and the carbamate carbonyl group. In case of the R-enanti-omer, this helix is additionally stabilized by a bifurcated hydrogen bond between the carbonyl function of the benzoyl group towards both phenyl groups of the mol-ecule.

Project description:In the title complex, [Cu(C(2)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](C(13)H(9)O(2))(2)·2.66H(2)O, the Cu(II) centre (located at an inversion centre) is coordinated by two bidentate ethyl-enediamine (en) ligands and two water O atoms in a typical Jahn-Teller distorted octahedral geometry. The amino groups and the water mol-ecules are disordered over two distinct crystallographic positions with occupancies of 1/3 and 2/3. In the crystal, the cations and anions are disposed in alternating layers. One of the water mol-ecules of crystallization is disordered and the other has a fractional occupation. In the 2/3 occupancy component, water mol-ecules are organized into a chain composed of hexa-meric units inter-connected by carboxyl-ate bridges.

Project description:The previous crystallographic studies [Wang et al. (2005 ▶). Huaxue Yanjiu16, 29-32; Wang et al. (2007 ▶). Youji Huaxue, 27, 524] of the title compound, C(12)H(14)N(2)O(3), gave only the unit-cell dimensions and an R factor with no other details available: the full structure is presented here. The eth-oxy group is disordered over two orientations with refined occupancies of 0.642 (15):0.358 (15). The nine C atoms and two N atoms of the 1-phenyl-2-(propan-2-yl-idene)hydrazine segment of the mol-ecule are close to being coplanar, with a maximum deviation of 0.0779 (14) Å for the phenyl-amino N atom and an intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond generates an S(6) ring. In the crystal, pairs of C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link mol-ecules into inverson dimers, generating R(2) (2)(16) loops.

Project description:The rise of antibacterial-resistant bacteria is a major problem in the United States of America and around the world. Millions of patients are infected with antimicrobial resistant bacteria each year. Novel antibacterial agents are needed to combat the growing and present crisis. Acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC), the multi-subunit complex which catalyses the first committed step in fatty acid synthesis, is a validated target for antibacterial agents. However, there are at present, no commercially available antibiotics that target ACC. Ethyl 4-[[2-chloro-5-(phenylcarbamoyl)phenyl]sulfonylamino]benzoate (SABA1) is a compound that has been shown to have antibacterial properties against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli. SABA1 inhibits biotin carboxylase (BC), the enzyme that catalyses the first half reaction of ACC. SABA1 inhibits BC via an atypical mechanism. It binds in the biotin binding site in the presence of ADP. SABA1 represents a potentially new class of antibiotics that can be used to combat the antibacterial resistance crisis.
