ABSTRACT: In the title Cu(II) complex, [Cu(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(C(6)H(5)NO(2))(H(2)O)]·H(2)O, the environment of the Cu(2+) ion is a distorted square pyramid with the axial site occupied by the O atom from the coordinated water mol-ecule and the square base formed by two O and two N atoms from the tridentate anion and the neutral monodentate pyridine-3-carboxylic acid ligand. O-H?O hydrogen bonds, as well as ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.945?(3)?Å] contribute to the stabilization of this structure.

Project description:In the title complex, [Cu(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(C(10)H(8)N(2)O(2))(H(2)O)]·H(2)O, the Cu(II) ion is in a slightly distorted square-pyramidal geometry. Two carboxyl-ate O atoms and one pyridine N atom from a pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate ligand chelate the Cu(II) ion, forming two stable five-membered metalla rings. One imidazole N atom from a 1-(4-carb-oxy-phen-yl)imidazole ligand and one water mol-ecule complete the five-coordination. O-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the coordinated water mol-ecules and carboxyl-ate groups link the complex mol-ecules into chain-containing dinuclear macrocycles. O-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the uncoordinated water mol-ecules link the chains into a layer extending parallel to (10[Formula: see text]).

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C(6)H(9)N(2))[Co(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(C(7)H(4)NO(4))]·C(7)H(5)NO(4)·3H(2)O, contains one (6-carb-oxy-pyridine-2-carboxyl-ato)(pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ato)cobaltate(II) anion, one phenyl-hydrazinium cation, one pyridine-2,6-dicarb-oxy-lic acid mol-ecule and three uncoordin-ated water mol-ecules, part of which are disordered. The Co(II) ion is coordinated by a pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate ion and a 6-carb-oxy-pyridine-2-carboxyl-ate ligand almost perpendicular to each other [the angle between the least-squares planes is 87.38?(4)°] and is surrounded by two O atoms and two N atoms in the equatorial plane and two O atoms in axial positions, resulting in a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. There is an extensive three-dimensional network of O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds, which link the components.

Project description:The title compound, {(C(4)H(12)N(2))[Bi(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(4)(H(2)O)]·H(2)O}(n) or {(pipzH(2))[Bi(2)(pydc)(4)(H(2)O)]·H(2)O}(n), where pydcH(2) is pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid and pipz is piperazine, was obtained by reaction of Bi(NO(3))(3)·5H(2)O with (pipzH(2))(pydc-H)(2)·3H(2)O in a 1:2 molar ratio in aqueous solution. There are two independent Bi(III) atoms in the structure, one of which is eight-coordinate with a distorted bicapped trigonal-prismatic geometry, and another which is nine-coordinate with a distorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. The carboxyl-ate groups of the (pydc)(2-) ligands link dinuclear [Bi(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(4)(H(2)O)](2-) units into one-dimensional coordin-ation polymers. The pipzH(2) (2+) cations (site symmetry ) and non-coordinated water mol-ecules lie between these polymers, forming N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds to the O atoms of the carboxylate groups.

Project description:In the binuclear centrosymmetric title compound, [In(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(2)(C(7)H(4)NO(4))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·4H(2)O, which contains both pyridine-2,3-dicarboxyl-ate and 3-carb-oxy-pyridine-2-carboxyl-ate ligands, the In(III) atom is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. One pyridine ligand is N,O-chelated while the other is N,O-chelated and at the same time bridging to the other via the second carboxyl group. In the crystal, an extensive O-H?O hydrogen-bonding network, involving the coordinated and lattice water mol-ecules and the carboxyl groups of the ligands, together with C-H?O and ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.793?(1)?Å], leads to the formation of a three-dimensional structure.

Each completely deprotonated 4-hy-droxy-pyridine-2,6-dicarb-oxy-lic acid mol-ecule assumes a tridentate chelating coordination mode. The square-pyramidal coordination geometry around the Cu(II) ion is completed by the bridging bipyridine ligand and an apical water molecule. Adjacent complexes are connected via O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds to generate a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(H(2)O)(6)][Ni(3)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(4)(H(2)O)(4)]·8H(2)O, was obtained by the reaction of nickel(II) nitrate hexa-hydrate with pyridine-2,6-dicarb-oxy-lic acid (pydcH(2)) and 1,10-phenanothroline (phen) in an aqueous solution. The latter ligand is not involved in formation of the title complex. There are three different Ni(II) atoms in the asymmetric unit, two of which are located on inversion centers, and thus the [Ni(H(2)O)(6)](2+) cation and the trinuclear {[Ni(pydc)(2)](2)-?-Ni(H(2)O)(4)}(2-) anion are centrosymmetric. All Ni(II) atoms exhibit an octa-hedral coordination geometry. Various inter-actions, including numerous O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds and C-O?? stacking of the pyridine and carboxyl-ate groups [3.570?(1), 3.758?(1) and 3.609?(1)?Å], are observed in the crystal structure.

Project description:There are two independent La(III) cations in the polymeric title compound, {[La(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(3)(H(2)O)(4)]·2H(2)O}(n). One is nine-coordinated in an LaN(2)O(7) tricapped trigonal-prismatic geometry formed by three pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anions and two water mol-ecules, while the other is ten-coordinated in an LaNO(9) bicapped square-anti-prismatic geometry formed by four pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anions and two water mol-ecules. The two La(III) cations are separated by a non-bonding distance of 5.026 (3) Å. The pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anions bridge the La(III) cations, forming a three-dimensional polymeric complex. The crystal structure contains extensive classical O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The crystal structure is further consolidated by π-π stacking between pyridine rings, the shortest centroid-centroid distance between parallel pyridine rings being 3.700 (5) Å.
