Propane-1,2-diaminium bis-(4-meth-oxy-benzoate).

ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title salt, C(3)H(12)N(2) (2+)·2C(8)H(7)O(3) (-), contains two 4-meth-oxy-benzoate anions and one propane-1,2-diaminium cation. All the amino H atoms of the cation are involved in N-H?O hydrogen bonds with the carboxyl-ate O atoms of the anions.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title proton-transfer compound, C(5)H(16)N(2) (2+)·2C(7)H(4)NO(4) (-)·H(2)O, consists of two mono-deproton-ated pyridine-2,6-dicarb-oxy-lic acid mol-ecules as anions, viz. (py-2,6-dcH)(-), one diprotonated N(1),N(1)-dimethyl-propane-1,2-diamine mol-ecule as a cation, viz. (dmpdaH(2))(2+), and one water mol-ecule. The crystal packing shows extensive O-H?O, N-H?O, N-H?N and O-H?N and weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds. These inter-actions link the (dmpdaH(2))(2+) cation, the (py-2,6-dcH)(-) anions and water mol-ecule and play an important role in the stabilization of crystal packing.

In the crystal, the constituent units are linked into a two-dimensional network parallel to the ab plane by N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Disordered structure of propane-1,2-diaminium dichloride.

Project description:In the title compound, C(3)H(12)N(2) (2+)·2Cl(-), the cations are disordered over two well resolved positions in a 0.525?(13):0.475?(13) ratio. The disorder involves two C atoms which assume positions that make an almost mirror-sym-metrical system. Similar disorder is observed both at room temperature and at 120?(1)?K. The conformation of the NCCN chain in both components is close to trans (the torsion angles ca ±170°), while that of CCCN chain is close to gauche (±50°). In the crystal, a network of relatively strong N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds connects the cations and anions into one-cation-deep layers parallel to (001); there are R(2) (4)(8) and R(2) (4)(11) ring motifs within the plane. The planes are only loosely connected by van der Waals contacts and electrostatic inter-actions between cations and anions.

Project description:In the title compound, C22H32O4, the atoms of the methyl ester group and the alk-oxy O atoms are all coplanar with the central aromatic ring, with an r.m.s. deviation of 0.008?Å. Bonds to the methyl-ene and cyclo-hexyl groups are also very close to this plane, so that the mol-ecule is essentially flat, apart from the cyclo-hexyl groups. The mean planes through the cyclo-hexyl groups are tilted by 30.08?(9) and 36.14?(7)° with respect to the central aromatic ring. In the crystal, pairs of mol-ecules linked by C-H?O hydrogen bonds form planar units which are stacked along the a axis, with an average inter-planar distance of 3.549?(2)?Å. Stacking appears to be stabilized by further weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds.
