ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [Co(C(4)H(7)N(2)O(2))(2)Cl(C(6)H(7)N)]·0.5H(2)O, the central Co(III) ion, chelated by four N atoms of the two bidenate glyoximate ligands, exhibits a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. The axial positions are occupied by a chloride ion and the 4-methyl-pyridine N atom. Inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules in the crystal via the water mol-ecules, while the glyoximate ligands exhibit intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title compound, [Co(C(4)H(7)N(2)O(2))(2)Cl(C(8)H(9)NO(2))], which was prepared as a model complex of vitamin B(12), the Co(III) atom, which is linked to four N atoms of the pseudo-macrocyclic (dmgH)(2) ligand (dmgH is dimethyl-glyoximate) in the equatorial plane and one Cl(-) anion and one N atom of ethyl nicotinate in apical positions, displays an approximately octa-hedral coordination. The Co atom is 0.0187?(8)?Å out of the mean plane of the four equatorial N atoms. The structure has an O?H?O bridge, which is very common in cobaloxime derivatives, with O?H distances of 1.24?(2) and 1.25?(2)?Å.

Project description:The title compound, trans-[Co(C(4)H(7)N(2)O(2))(2)Cl(C(10)H(14)N(2)S)]·0.5H(2)O, contains two independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit in which the Co(III) ions are coordinated in slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination environments. The bis-chelating glyoximate ligands, which occupy equatorial sites, are linked by interligand O-H?O hydrogen bonds. The dihedral angles between the mean planes of the glyoximate ligands in each mol-ecule are 2.07?(8) and 1.60?(1)°. The asymmetric unit contains a solvent water mol-ecule which is disordered over two sites with refined occupancies 0.64?(2) and 0.36?(2).

Project description:The Co centre in the title compound, [Co(C(14)H(11)N(2)O(2))(2)Cl(C(3)H(4)N(2))]·0.5H(2)O, shows a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. The glyoximate units of the mol-ecule are linked by O-H?O hydrogen bonds with the H atom almost in the middle of the two O atoms. The crystal packing is stabilized through inter-molecular N-H?O, N-H?N and O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. The uncoordinated water mol-ecule shows half-occupation.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(C(4)H(7)N(2)O(2))(2)Cl(C(8)H(9)NO(2))]·CHCl(3), was synthesized as a model complex of vitamin B(12). The Co(III) cation displays an approximately octa-hedral coordination environment, being displaced by 0.0240 (15) Å from the mean plane of the four N atoms of the equatorial plane. The O-H distances in the dimethyl-glyoximate hy-droxy groups are 0.89 (6) and 1.14 (6) Å; such long O-H bonds are very common in cobaloxime derivatives. Weak classical O-H⋯N and non-classical C-H⋯Cl hydrogen-bonding interactions further consolidate the crystal packing.

Project description:In the title complex, [CoBr(C(4)H(7)N(2)O(2))(2)(H(2)O)], a crystallo-graphic mirror plane bis-ects the mol-ecule, perpendicular to the glyoximate ligands. The geometry around the cobalt(III) atom is approximately octa-hedral with the four glyoximate N atoms forming the square base. A bromide ion and the O atom of a water mol-ecule occupy the remaining coordination sites. The N-Co-N bite angles are 82.18?(4) and 80.03?(16)°. The glyoximate moieties form strong intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds. The coordinated water mol-ecule forms an inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bond with a glyoximate O atom, thereby generating supra-molecular chains parallel to [010].

The equatorial plane consists of four N atoms, two each from the dimethyl-glyoxime and dimethyl-glyoximate ligands, while the two axial positions are occupied by two chloride ions. Strong intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds are observed between the dimethyl-glyoxime and dimethyl-glyoximate ligands. Mol-ecules are linked into a chain running along the [101] direction by O-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds. The chains are cross-linked through inter-molecular C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Co(C(14)H(11)N(2)O(2))(2)Cl(H(2)O)]·2H(2)O or [Co(dpgH)(2)Cl(H(2)O)]·2H(2)O, where dpgH(-) is diphenyl glyoximate, consists of one-half of a [Co(dpgH)(2)Cl(H(2)O)] complex and one solvent water mol-ecule. The complex is completed through inversion symmetry, with the Co(III) atom situated at the centre of symmetry. The coordination geometry around the Co(III) atom is distorted octa-hedral with the four N atoms of the two dpgH(-) ligands forming an approximate square plane with N-Co-N bite angles of 81.13?(14) and 98.87?(14)°. The Cl(-) ligand and the water mol-ecule are disordered in a 1:1 ratio and are in the axial positions, almost perpendicular to the plane of the glyoximate ligands [O-Co-Cl = 175.3?(10)°]. The two glyoximate ligands are linked by strong intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds. In addition, O-H?O inter-actions involving the solvent water mol-ecules and O-H?N hydrogen-bonding inter-actions are also observed. The solvent water mol-ecule is disordered over five positions with different occupancies.
