Poly[aqua-bis-[?(2)-2-(pyridin-4-ylsulfan-yl)acetato]-zinc].

ABSTRACT: The crystal structure of the title complex, [Zn(C(7)H(6)NO(2)S)(2)(H(2)O)](n), consists of extended layers parallel to (001) with 2-(pyridin-4-ylsulfan-yl)acetate ligands bridging the Zn(II) atoms. The Zn(II) atom shows a distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal coordination environment. The Zn(II) and one O atom are situated on a crystallographic twofold rotation axis. In the crystal, intra-layer O-H?O hydrogen-bond inter-actions help to consolidate the coordination layer.

In L, the pyridine and pyrimidine rings are twisted at an angle of 11.2?(1)°. The coordinated water mol-ecules and the acetate groups are involved in the formation of a three-dimensional hydrogen-bonded network, which consolidates the crystal packing.

O-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the lattice water mol-ecules connect these chains into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(CH(3)CO(2))(2)(C(9)H(7)N(3))(H(2)O)](n), the Cu(II) ion is penta-coordinated in a square-pyramidal geometry. The N atoms of the two chelating symmetry-related 5-(pyridin-3-yl)pyrimidine ligands and the O atoms of the two monodentate acetate anions are nearly coplanar, with a mean deviation from the least-squares plane of 0.157?(2)?Å and the Cu(II) ion is displaced by 0.050?(3)?Å from this plane towards the apical water O atom. Bridging through the bis-monodentate 5-(pyridin-3-yl)pyrimidine ligand forms a one-dimensional coordination polymer extending parallel to [010]. In the crystal, O-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a two-dimensional supra-molecular structure parallel to (100). The crystal studied was an inversion twin with a 0.57?(3):0.43?(3) domain ratio.

Project description:The title compound, {[Cd(CH(3)COO)(2)(C(20)H(16)N(6)S(2))]·3H(2)O}(n), exists as a one-dimensional zigzag polymer in which the Cd(II) ion shows a seven-coordinate [CdO(5)N(2)] distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal geometry with the N atoms in axial positions and an N-Cd-N angle of 176.94?(13)°. The metal atoms are bridged by 1,2-bis-[4-(pyridin-3-yl)pyrimidin-2-ylsulfan-yl]ethane ligands, giving a polymeric chain extending along the b axis. Adjacent chains related by an inversion center are further bridged by Cd-O bonds formed between the O atom of one of the acetate ligands and the metal atom. The five Cd-O bond lengths are in the range 2.329?(3)-2.485?(3)?Å. There are ?-? stacking inter-actions between the aromatic rings of adjacent polymeric chains, the centroid-centroid distances being 3.556?(3) and 3.698?(3)?Å, organizing the chains into a three-dimensional framework. This framework is additionally stabilized by extensive O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonding between water mol-ecules and the ligands.

Project description:In the title compound, {[Cu(C10H8N4)3(H2O)2](ClO4)2} n , the coordination environment of the cationic Cu(II) atom is distorted octa-hedral, formed by pairs of symmetry-equivalent 1,2-bis-(pyridin-4-yl)diazene ligands, bridging 1,2-bis-(pyridin-4-yl)diazene ligands and two non-equivalent water mol-ecules. The 1,2-bis-(pyridin-4-yl)diazene mol-ecules form polymeric chains parallel to [-101] via azo bonds which are situated about inversion centres. Since the Cu(II) atom is situated on a twofold rotation axis, the monomeric unit has point symmetry 2. The perchlorate anions are disordered in a 0.536 (9):0.464 (9) ratio and are acceptors of water H atoms in medium-strong O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds with graph set R 4 (4)(12). The water mol-ecules, which are coordinated to the Cu(II) atom and are hydrogen-bonded to the perchlorate anions, form columns parallel to [010]. A π-π inter-action [centroid-centroid distance = 3.913 (2) Å] occurs between pyridine rings, and weak C-H⋯O inter-actions also occur.

One coordinates the metal atom via the pyridyl N atom whereas the other coordinates via the carboxyl-ate O atom. The Co(II) atom adopts a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry with four O atoms of the coordinated water mol-ecules located in the equatorial plane and the N and O atoms of the two POA ligands in axial positions. In the crystal, the components are connected through O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional framework.
