Project description:In the crystal of the title molecular salt, C(6)H(14)N(+)·C(8)H(7)O(3) (-), strong N-H?O hydrogen bonds are formed between the ammonium H atoms and the carboxyl-ate O atoms. The resulting supra-molecular structure is based on chains running in the [010] direction. The dihedral angle between the -CO(2) group and the benzene ring is 8.94?(17)° and the methoxy C atom deviates by 1.374?Å from the ring.

Project description:The anions of the title salt, NH(4) (+)·HO(2)CC(6)H(4)-O-C(6)H(4)CO(2) (-), are linked by inter-molecular -CO(2)H?O(2)C- hydrogen bonds, forming a polyanionic chain in the crystal; adjacent chains are connected through the ammonium cation into a layer structure, with the ammonium cation serving as hydrogen-bond donor to four carboxyl-ate O atoms. The cation and anion both lie on special positions of 2 site symmetry. In the anion, the rings make a dihedral angle of 65.3?(1)°. The acid H atom is disordered about the special position.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title organic salt, C(2)H(8)N(+)·C(8)H(5)O(4) (-), consists of two dimethyl-ammonium cations and two 3-carb-oxy-benzoate anions. The 3-carb-oxy-benzoate anions are linked via strong inter-molecular and nearly symmetrical O-H?O hydrogen bonds forming infinite chains parallel to [111]. Neighbouring chains are further connected by the dimethyl-ammonium cations via N-H?O bonds, resulting in a double-chain-like structure. The dihedral angles of all carboxylate groups with respect to the phenylene rings are in the range 7.9?(1)-20.48?(9)°.

Benzamidinium 2-meth-oxy-benzoate.

Project description:The title mol-ecular salt, C7H9N2 (+.)C8H7O3 (-), was synthesized by reaction between benzamidine (benzene-carboximidamide) and 2-meth-oxy-benzoic acid. In the cation, the amidinium group has two similar C-N bonds [1.3070 (17) and 1.3145 (16) Å] and is almost coplanar with the benzene ring, making a dihedral angle of 5.34 (12)°. In the anion, the meth-oxy substituent forces the carboxyl-ate group to be twisted by 69.45 (6)° with respect to the plane of the aromatic fragment. In the crystal, the components are connected by two N(+)-H⋯O(-) (±)CAHB (charge-assisted hydrogen bonds), forming centrosymmetric ionic dimers with graph-set motif R 2 (2)(8). These ionic dimers are then joined in ribbons running along the b-axis direction by another R 4 (2)(8) motif involving the remaining N(+)-H⋯O(-) hydrogen bonds. Remarkably, at variance with the well known carb-oxy-lic dimer R 2 (2)(8) motif, the carboxyl-ate-amidinium pair is not planar, the dihedral angle between the planes defined by the CN2 (+) and CO2 (-) atoms being 18.57 (12)°.

Project description:The title compound, C(8)H(11)N(2)O(+)·C(9)H(9)O(4) (-), was synthesized by the reaction of 4-meth-oxy-benzamidine (4-amidino-anisole) and 2,6-dimeth-oxy-benzoic acid. The structure consists of non-planar pairs of hydrogen-bonded 4-meth-oxy-benzamidinium cations and 2,6-dimeth-oxy-benzoate anions. In the cation, the amidinium group is tilted by 27.94 (10)° with respect to the benzene ring. In the anion, the sterically bulky ortho-meth-oxy substituents force the carb-oxy-ate group to be twisted away from the plane of the benzene ring by 73.24 (6)°. The ions are further associated in the crystal into chains along the b-axis direction by inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, C16H26NO2 (+)·C7H5O2 (-), is a benzoate salt of the painkiller Tramadol. The six-membered cyclo-hexane ring of the cation adopts a slightly distorted chair conformation and carries OH and 3-meth-oxy-phenyl substituents at the 2-position and a protonated methyl-aza-niumylmethyl group at the 3-position. In addition, a weak intra-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bond is observed in the cation. In the crystal, weak O-H?O, N-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds link the components into chains along [010]. A C-H?? contact is also observed.

Project description:The mol-ecular structure of the title compound, NH(4) (+)·C(7)H(7)O(4)S(-), is featureless [the methoxy C atom deviating 0.173 (6) Å from the phenyl mean plane] with inter-atomic distances and angles in the expected ranges. The main feature of inter-est is the packing mode. Hydro-philic (SO(3) and NH(4)) and hydro-phobic (PhOCH(3)) parts in the structure segregate, the former inter-acting through a dense hydrogen-bonding scheme, leading to a well connected two-dimensional structure parallel to (100) and the latter hydro-phobic groups acting as spacers for an inter-planar separation of c/2 = 10.205 (2) Å. In spite of being aligned along [110], the benzene rings stack in a far from parallel fashion [viz. consecutive ring centers determine a broken line with a 164.72 (12)° zigzag angle], thus preventing any possible π-π inter-action.
