Project description:The title mol-ecule, C20H20N2S2, is T-shaped and consists of a nearly flat 5,6-dimethyl-2-(5-methyl-thio-phen-2-yl)benzimidazole system approximately perpendicular to the 5-methyl-thio-phen-2-ylmethyl substituent. The 5,6-dimethyl-2-(5-meth-yl-thio-phen-2-yl)benzimidazole system is rotationally disordered about the two imidazole N atoms as approximated by a twofold rotation axis with a refined major/minor occupancy ratio of 0.884?(2):0.116?(2). The benzimidazole ring system is essentially planar, the largest deviations being 0.026?(2) and 0.044?(18)?Å in the major and minor components, respectively. The inter-planar angles between the benzimidazole unit and the 5-methyl-thio-phen-2-yl substituent are 10.8?(3) and 8(3)° in the major and minor components, respectively, and the corresponding angles with the 5-methyl-thio-phen-2-ylmethyl substituent are 88.12?(8) and 89.5?(4)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are oriented with their 2-(5-methyl-thio-phen-2-yl)benzimidazole mean planes approximately parallel to (11[Formula: see text]) and appear to be held together by ?-? [2-thiophene?imidazole centroid-centroid distance = 4.1383?(7)?Å] and C-H?? contacts. A weak C-H?N hydrogen bond generates infinite chains parallel to [100].

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, C(11)H(14)N(2)OS, the conformation of the two N-H bonds is anti. The conformation of the C=S and the C=O bonds is also anti. Furthermore, the N-H bond adjacent to the benzene ring is anti to the ortho- and meta-methyl groups. The dihedral angle between the benzene ring and the side chain [N-C(= S)-N-C(=O)-C; maximum deviation = 0.047?(4)?Å] is 81.33?(10)°. The NH hydrogen adjacent to the benzene ring and the amide O atom exhibit bifurcated intra- and inter-molecular hydrogen bonding. In the crystal, mol-ecules form inversion dimers, which are linked into chains via R(2) (2)(12) and R(2) (2)(8) networks.

Project description:In the title 1-oxo-1,2-di-hydro-naphthalene derivatives, C28H24O6, (I), C34H22O5S, (II), and C27H20O3S2, (III), the cyclo-hexa-1,3-diene rings of the 1,2-di-hydro-naphthalene ring systems adopt half-chair, boat and half-chair conformations, respectively. The carbonyl O atoms attached to the di-hydro-naphthalene ring systems are each significantly deviated from the mean plane of the 1,2-di-hydro-naphthalene ring system, by 0.6162?(12)?Å in (I), 0.6016?(16)?Å in (II) and 0.515?(3)?Å in (III). The mean planes of the 1,2-di-hydro-naphthalene ring systems make dihedral angles of 85.83?(3), 88.19?(3) and 81.67?(8)°, respectively, with the methyl-phenyl ring in (I), the pyrene ring in (II) and the phenyl ring in (III). In (I), the mol-ecular structure is stabilized by an intra-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bond, generating an S(6) ring motif. In the crystal of (I), mol-ecules are linked by an inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bond, which generates a C(8) zigzag chain running along [100]. Adjacent chains are further connected by C-H?? and offset ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.6572?(9)?Å], forming a double-chain structure. In the crystals of (II) and (III), mol-ecules are linked into chain structures by offset ?-? inter-actions with centroid-centroid distances of 3.5349?(12) and 3.8845?(13)?Å for (II) and 3.588?(2)?Å for (III). In (II) and (III), the thio-phene rings are orientationally disordered over two sites, with occupancy ratios of 0.69:0.31 for (II), and 0.528?(4):0.472?(4) and 0.632?(5):0.368?(5) for (III).
