ABSTRACT: The Cu(I) atom in the title compound, [CuCl(C(18)H(14)N(4))], is N,N'-chelated by the N-heterocyclic ligand and coordinated by one Cl(-) anion in a distorted trigonal geometry. In the crystal, the Cu(I) atom is disordered over two positions in a 0.667?(6):0.333?(6) ratio. The deviation of the Cu atom from the N/N/Cl coordination plane is 0.013?(3)?Å for the major component and 0.073?(6)?Å for the minor component. Two methyl-ene C atoms are also disordered over two positions in a 0.667?(6):0.333?(6) ratio.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, (C(19)H(18)N(3))(2)[CuCl(4)], consists of square-planar [CuCl(4)](2-) anions and triphenyl-guanidinium cations. The Cu(II) ion occupies a crystallographic inversion centre. In the cation, the dihedral angles between the phenyl rings and the plane defined by the central guanidinium fragment are in the range 51.9 (4)-64.4 (3)°. N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds assemble the ions into infinite chains running along the b axis.

In the crystal, ?-? aromatic stacking inter-actions between adjacent TTBT rings are seen, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.604?(3)?Å. An O-H?Cl hydrogen bond between the half-occupied water molecule and one chloride ion also occurs.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title ionic compound (C(7)H(6)NS)[AuCl(4)]·C(4)H(8)O, the [AuCl(4)](-) anion shows a typical square-planar geometry. Numerous weak C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds between [AuCl(4)](-) and the 1,3-benzothia-zolium units form layers comprised of 24-membered rings in which hydrogen-bonded tetra-hydro-furan (THF) solvent mol-ecules are accommodated. C-H?Cl inter-actions between THF and [AuCl(4)](-) from adjacent layers result in bilayers. These are further stabilized by ?-? inter-actions between the thia-zole and benzene rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.971?(3)?Å], resulting in the formation of a three-dimensional supra-molecular assembly.

The complex cation is located on a crystallographic threefold axis. Both PF(6) (-) anions are located on special positions of site symmetry . The Cu-As bond of the independent arsine ligand is shorter than the Cu-As bonds of the three symmetry-related arsine ligands.
