ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [Zn(C(7)H(6)NO(2))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))], the Zn(II) cation is coordinated by two amino-benzoate anions and one 2,2'-bipyridine ligand in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. The carboxyl-ate group of one aminobenzoate anion coordinates to the Zn(II) cation in a monodentate manner, whereas the carboxyl-ate group of the other amino-benzoate anion chelates the Zn cation with different Zn-O bond lengths. Inter-molecular N-H?N and N-H?O hydrogen bonding is present in the crystal structure.

Project description:In the title complex, [Zn(C(7)H(5)O(3))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)], the Zn(II) ion is coordinated by two 4-hydroxy-benzoate anions, one 2,2'-bipyridine mol-ecule and one water mol-ecule and displays a distorted octa-hedral geometry. One Zn-O bond [2.5300?(15)?Å] is much longer than the others in the mol-ecule. In the crystal structure, the face-to-face separation of 3.547?(9)?Å suggests no ?-? stacking between parallel bipyridine ring systems, and an extensive O-H?O hydrogen-bonding network between the coordinated water molecule, the phenol group and carboxylate O atoms is present.

Project description:In the title compound, [Zn(C(7)H(4)ClO(2))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))], the Zn(II) atom is coordinated by two O atoms from two 4-chloro-benzoate ligands and two N atoms from a chelating 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy) mol-ecule in a distorted N(2)O(2) tetra-hedral geometry. The Zn(II) atom is located on a twofold rotation axis, which also passes through the mid-point of the central C-C bond of the bpy ligand. In the crystal, weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds and ?-? stacking inter-actions between the pyridine rings of the bpy ligands [centroid-centroid distance = 3.642?(3)?Å] link the complex mol-ecules into a two-dimensional supra-molecular structure parallel to (100). An intra-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bond is also observed.

Two cations are linked into dimers via three bridging carboxyl-ate groups from three 2,5-difluoro-benzoic acid units. The Gd(III) ion is nine-coord-inated by seven O atoms and two N atoms.

Project description:In the centrosymmetric dinuclear title compound, [Tb(2)(C(7)H(3)F(2)O(2))(6)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)], the Tb(III) ion is coordinated by an N,N'-bidentate 2,2'-bipyridine mol-ecule, and two O,O'-bidentate 2,4-difluoro-benzoate (dfb) anions. One of the latter also bonds to the second Tb(III) centre through one of its O atoms. The third dfb anion bonds to one Tb atom from each of its O atoms. Thus, the three dfb species have three different coordination modes. This results in an irregular TbN(2)O(7) coordination sphere for the metal ion. The F atoms and their associated H atoms in the simple bidentate dfb anion are disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.672 (10):0.328 (10) ratio.

The apical site is occupied by one of the carboxyl-ate O atoms. The water mol-ecule forms intra-molecular hydrogen bonds to the uncoordinated carboxyl O atoms. The crystal studied was a nonmerohedral twin with minor components in 0.381?(3) and 0.108?(2) proportions.

Project description:The title mononuclear Cu(II) complex, [Cu(C(8)H(5)O(3))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))], is comprised of a Cu(II) cation, two 4-formyl-benzoate (L(-)) ligands and a 2,2'-bipyridine (bipy) ligand. The Cu(II) ion and bipy ligand lie on a crystallographic twofold rotation axis; the Cu(II) ion is coordinated by two N atoms from one bipy ligand and two O atoms from two different carboxyl-ate groups of two L(-) ligands, exhibiting effectively a distorted square-planar geometry. The complex mol-ecules are inter-linked to generate two-dimensional supra-molecular layers in the ab plane, formed by C-H?O hydrogen bonds, where the O acceptor is the O atom from the carboxyl-ate group not involved in coordination to the Cu(II) ion. The two-dimensional layers are stacked in a sequence via C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions where the formyl O atom acts as acceptor.

Project description:The reaction of lead acetate, benzoic acid and 2,2'-bipyridine (bipy) in aqueous solution yielded the title complex, [Pb(C(7)H(5)O(2))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))]·C(7)H(6)O(2). The asymmetric unit contains two independent complex mol-ecules as well as two independent benzoic acid solvent mol-ecules, one of which is disordered over two positions with almost equal occupancies [0.504?(5) and 0.496?(5)]. The two complex mol-ecules have similar configurations with the hexa-coordinated environment of the Pb(II) atom formed by four carboxyl-ate O atoms of two chelate benzoate ligands and two N atoms of the bipy ligand. The Pb-O bonds involving one of the benzoate ligands are almost coplanar with Pb-N bonds to the bipy ligand [dihedral angles of 12.67?(11) and 14.73?(11)°] ; if the second benzoate ligand is treated as one coordination site, the overall coordination may be represented as a distorted pseudo-square pyramid. Weak inter-molecular Pb?O inter-actions [3.046?(3) and 3.359?(3)?Å] link each of the complex mol-ecules into two symmetry-independent centrosymmetric dimers. Hydrogen bonds involving the carboxyl H atoms of solvent benzoic acid mol-ecules and metal-coordinated carboxyl-ate O atoms link complex mol-ecules and benzoic acid solvent mol-ecules into insular aggregates.

Project description:The title zinc complex, [Zn(C(8)H(8)NO(2))(2)(C(6)H(6)N(2)O)(2)], is composed of two monodentate 4-(methyl-amino)benzoate and two monodentate nicotinamide ligands. The coordination around the Zn atom is distorted tetra-hedral. The dihedral angles between the two benzene rings and the two pyridine rings are 78.30 (6) and 68.86 (5)°. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into an infinite three-dimensional network.
