ABSTRACT: In the crystal structure of the title compound, K(2)[B(10)O(14)(OH)(4)]·H(2)O, the polyborate [B(10)O(14)(OH)(4)](2-) anions are linked together through their common O atoms, forming a helical chain-like structure. Adjacent chains are further connected into a three-dimensional structure by O-H?O hydrogen bonds. The water mol-ecules and potassium cations are located between these chains. Further O-H?O hydrogen bonds occur between the anions and the water mol-ecules.

The K(+) cation is surrounded by four anions, making close contacts with six F atoms at 2.659?(3)-2.906?(3)?Å and with two O atoms at 2.806?(3) and 2.921?(3)?Å in a distorted bicapped trigonal-prismatic geometry.

Potassium penta-borate.

Project description:The title compound, K[B(5)O(7)(OH)(2)], was obtained from a hydro-thermal reaction. The structure is composed of one K(+) cation and a polyborate (1) (∞)[B(5)O(7)(OH)(2)](-) anion, which consists of two six-membered rings linked by a common BO(4) tetra-hedron. The [B(5)O(7)(OH)(2)](-) units are linked together through two exocyclic O atoms to neighbouring units, forming a helical chain structure extending parallel to [010]. Adjacent chains are further connected into a three-dimensional structure by K-O bonds and weak O-H⋯O hydrogen-bond inter-actions.

Potassium oxalurate monohydrate.

Project description:The title salt, poly[aqua-?(3)-oxalurato-potassium(I)], [K(C(3)H(3)N(2)O(4))(H(2)O)](n), which was obtained from a water solution of oxaluric acid and KOH at room temperature, crystallizes as potassium and oxalurate ions along with a water mol-ecule. The K(+) cation lies on a crystallographic twofold rotation axis (site symmetry 2, Wyckoff position f), and the water and oxalurate mol-ecules are located within different mirror planes (site symmetry m, Wyckoff position g). The K(+) cation is eight-coordinated by six O atoms of six oxalurate ligands and two O atoms from two water mol-ecules in a distorted square-anti-prismatic geometry. All of the eight coordinated O atoms are in a monodentate bridging mode, with alternate bridged K?K distances of 3.5575?(12) and 3.3738?(12)?Å. The oxalurate ligand shows a ?(3)-bridging coordination mode, which links the K(+) cation into a three-dimensional network. The oxalurate ligands and the water mol-ecules are involved in inter- and intra-molecular N-H?O, and O-H?O hydrogen bonds, which stabilize the network.

Potassium zinc borate, KZnB(3)O(6).

Project description:The title compound, KZnB(3)O(6) contains a remarkable [B(6)O(12)](6-) group ( symmetry) formed by two rings linked by edge-sharing BO(4) tetra-hedra, a feature that has only been observed previously under high pressure conditions. These borate groups are connected through distorted ZnO(4) tetra-hedra in edge-shared pairs ( symmetry), forming a three-dimensional network whose cavities are filled by K(+) cations.

Project description:The title compounds, K(+)·C7H7BF3O(-), (I), and K(+)·C6H4BF4 (-), (II), are mol-ecular salts containing para-substituted phenyl-tri-fluorido-borate anions. In each compound, the B atom adopts a distorted tetra-hedral BCF3 geometry. Despite their different compositions and space groups, the irregular KF8 coordination polyhedra of the potassium cations in the structures are almost identical. These polyhedra share faces and edges, generating infinite (010) layers in (I) and infinite (001) layers in (II). In (I), adjacent layers are stacked in an AAA… fashion, whereas in (II), they are stacked in an ABAB… sequence.

Project description:In the title manganese(III) complex, [MnCl(2)(C(10)H(24)N(4))]BF(4) or trans-[MnCl(2)(cyclam)]BF(4) (cyclam is the tetra-dentate amine ligand 1,4,8,11-tetra-azacyclo-tetra-deca-ne), the Mn(III) ions occupy the center of a distorted octa-hedron coordinated by all four ligand nitro-gen donors in the macrobicyclic cavity and two chloride ions occupy the axial positions. Intra-molecular hydrogen bonding involving the coordinated chloride ions and the hydrogen atoms of the cyclam ligand is observed. Inter-molecular hydrogen bonding involving the tetrafluoridoborate anion and hydrogen atoms of the cyclam ligand leads to an infinite one-dimensional chain along the a axis. The tetra-fluoridoborate and inorganic units are linked by N-H?F hydrogen bonds. The structure may be compared with those of analogous compounds [MnCl(2)(cyclam)]ClO(4) and [Mn(CN)(2)(cyclam)]ClO(4).

The potassium cation is coordinated by four S and four O atoms in a bipyramidal reversed geometry. In the crystal, the three components are linked, generating infinite two-dimensional networks that lie parallel to the bc plane. These layers are linked via O-H?S hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional structure.
