ABSTRACT: The crystal structure of the polymeric title compound, {[HgCl(2)(C(18)H(18)N(4))]·C(3)H(7)NO}(n), features an N-heterocyclic ligand which links adjacent HgCl(2) units into a helical chain running along the b axis. The coordination geometry of the Hg(II) atom is a distorted tetra-hedron. The dimethyl-formamide mol-ecule is disordered over two positions in a 1:1 ratio, and is linked to the complex mol-ecules via N-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title compound, [HgCl(2)(C(18)H(16)N(2)O(2))](n), the Hg(II) atom is four-coordinated in a distorted tetra-hedral environment defined by two Cl atoms and two N atoms from two 1,4-bis-(pyridin-2-ylmeth-oxy)benzene ligands. The ligand shows a non-coplanar conformation, in which the dihedral angles between the two terminal pyridine rings and the linking benzene ring are 7.275?(17) and 74.020?(14)°. The flexible ligands link the Hg(II) atoms into a chain running along [010], with an Hg?Hg separation of 10.335?(5)?Å, which is equal to the b axis. The chains are connected by C-H?O and C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title coordination polymer, {[Cd(C8H4O4)(C14H14N4)]·C3H7NO} n , was synthesized by solvothermal reaction of metallic cadmium with the semi-rigid neutral ligand 1,4-bis-[(1H-imidazol-1-yl)meth-yl]benzene (bix) and the V-shaped benzene-1,3-di-carb-oxy-lic acid (m-H2bdc). The structure exhibits a pseudo-C-centring which is almost fulfilled by the polymeric metal complex but not by the solvent dimethylform-amide (DMF) mol-ecules. The asymmetric unit contains two independent Cd(II) ions, two m-bdc(2-) ligands, one and two half bix ligands, and two solvent DMF mol-ecules. The Cd(II) ions are both five-coordinated by three O atoms from two different m-bdc(2-) ligands and two N atoms from two different bix ligands in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. The m-bdc(2-) ligands adopt a chelate-monodentate coordination mode, connecting neighboring Cd(II) ions into a zigzag chain parallel to [110]. Adjacent chains are further cross-linked by bix ligands, giving rise to a puckered sheet nearly perpendicular to the chain direction. Thus, each Cd(II) ion is connected to four neighboring Cd(II) ions through two m-bdc(2-) anions and two bix ligands, giving rise to the final non-inter-penetrating uninodal layer with sql (4,4) topology.

Project description:In the title complex, {[CdI(2)(C(11)H(10)N(4))]·C(3)H(7)NO}(n), the Cd(II) ion is four-coordinated by two N atoms from two 1-[(1H-benzimidazol-1-yl)meth-yl]-1H-imidazole (bmi) ligands and by two terminal I(-) anions in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. One of the two I(-) anions is disordered over two sets of sites, with refined occupancies of 0.66 (5) and 0.34 (5). The Cd(II) ions are bridged by bmi ligands, leading to the formation of a chain along [001]. Dimethyl-formamide solvent mol-ecules are located between these chains. Classical N-H⋯O hydrogen bonding between the bmi ligands and the solvent mol-ecules leads to a consolidation of the structure.

Project description:The aromatic mol-ecule of the title compound, C(20)H(14)N(4)·2C(3)H(7)NO, occupies a special position on an inversion center. The benzimidazole unit (planar to within 0.008?Å) forms a dihedral angle of 9.1?(2)° with the central benzene ring. The benzimidazole H atom participates in a hydrogen bond with the dimethyl-formamide solvent molecule, thus giving rise to the title 1:2 aggregate. These aggregates are further linked in the crystal structure by aromatic ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 6.356?(2)?Å].

The bpbd mol-ecules bridge the Ag atoms into a chain. Two adjacent chains are further connected by Ag?Ag inter-actions [3.1631?(8)?Å], forming a double-chain structure. Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title coordination polymer, [Y(2)(C(8)H(5)NO(4))(3)(C(3)H(7)NO)(4)](n), contains one Y(3+) ion, three half-mol-ecules of the 2-amino-benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate (abz) dianion and two O-bonded N,N-dimethyl-formamide (DMF) mol-ecules. Each abz half-mol-ecule is completed by crystallographic inversion symmetry and its -NH(2) group is disordered in each case [relative occupancies within the asymmetric unit = 0.462?(18):0.538?(18), 0.93?(2):0.07?(2) and 0.828?(16):0.172?(16)]. The combination of disorder and crystal symmetry means that each of the four C-H atoms of the benzene ring of each of the dianions bears a statistical fraction of an -NH(2) group. The coordination geometry of the yttrium ion is a fairly regular YO(8) square anti-prism arising from its coordination by two DMF mol-ecules, four monodentate abz dianions and one O,O-bidentate abz dianion. The polymeric building unit is a dimeric paddle-wheel with two metal ions linked by four bridging abz dianions. Further bridging linkages connect the dimers into a three-dimensional framework containing voids in which highly disordered DMF mol-ecules are presumed to reside.

Each Zn(II) atom links to three organic ligands and each pyromellitate ligand coordinates to four Zn(II) atoms, forming a (3,4)-connected infinite three-dimensional framework. O-H?N inter-actions also occur.
