Poly[?(4)-glutarato-di-?(3)-glutarato-bis-(1,10-phenanthroline)diyttrium(III)].

ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [Y(2)(C(5)H(6)O(4))(3)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)](n), three glutarate groups and two 1,10-phenanthroline mol-ecules surround the two Y(III) ions. Both Y(III) ions are coordinated by two N atoms from the 1,10-phenanthroline, seven O atoms from five glutarate groups in a distorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. The Y(III) ions are bridged by glutarate ligands in three modes, forming a layered, polymeric structure. The resulting layers are assembled by ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.740?(3) and 3.571?(3)?Å] into a three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture.

Project description:In the centrosymmetric dinuclear title complex, [Cu(2)(C(5)H(6)O(4))(2)(C(12)H(18)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)], the Cu(II) atom displays a dis-torted square-pyramidal coordination environment with the basal plane occupied by two phenanthroline N atoms and two O atoms from different glutarate dianions while a water mol-ecule is located at the apical position. Of the two water H atoms, one is engaged in an intra-molecular hydrogen bond with a free oxygen of the dianion whereas the second is engaged in an inter-molecular hydrogen bond, building a corrugated layer parallel to (100). These layers are further connected through π-π stacking inter-actions involving symmetry-related phenanthroline rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.5599 (17) and 3.5617 (18) Å], building a three dimensionnal network. C-H⋯π inter-actions involving the phenanthroline ring system are also observed.

Project description:The title copper coordination polymer, [Cu(3)(C(8)H(4)O(4))(2)(C(8)H(5)O(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)](n), was synthesized by reacting Cu(NO(3))(2), isophthalic acid and 1,10-phenanthroline under hydro-thermal conditions. The trinuclear unit presents a central almost planar CuO(4) chromophore with the cation on a symmetry center, and two symmetry-related CuN(2)O(3) groups with the metal centre in a distorted square-pyramidal environment. These units are bridged by isophthalate ligands into one-dimensional double-chain coordination polymers which are, in turn, connected by various π-π stacking inter-actions (face-to-face distance ca 3.45 Å) and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:The title complex, [Pr(C(7)H(5)O(3))(2)(NO(3))(C(12)H(8)N(2))]·2C(12)H(8)N(2), has a polymeric chain structure, with two uncoordinated 1,10-phenanthroline mol-ecules in the lattice. The Pr(III) centre has a monocapped square-anti-prismatic coordination geometry, comprised of two N atoms from one chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligand, four carboxyl-ate O atoms from four 4-hy-droxy-benzoate anions and three O atoms from two nitrate anions. The 4-hy-droxy-benzoate and nitrate anions function as μ(2)-bridging ligands and link the Pr(III) ions into a one-dimensional chain structure along the c axis. Inter-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds are observed between the 4-hy-droxy-benzoate anions and the uncoordinated 1,10-phenanthroline mol-ecules.

Project description:In the title compound, [Y(2)(C(4)H(4)O(4))(2)(C(2)O(4))(H(2)O)(2)](n), the flexible succinate anion assumes a gauche conformation and bridges the eight-coordinated Y atoms, generating two-dimensional layers parallel to (010). The coordination polymer layers are linked into a three-dimensional framework by the rigid oxalate ligands. The oxalate ions are located on a center of inversion. Inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds help to stabilize the crystal structure.

Project description:The title complex, [Pr(2)(C(8)H(7)O(3))(6)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)](n), which has an inversion centre midway between the two Pr(III) atoms of the structural unit, forms a one-dimensional polymer bridged alternately by either two bidentate, or two bidentate and two terdentate, phenoxy-acetate carboxyl-ate groups. Each Pr(III) atom is thus nine-coordinated by two N atoms of a 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and seven O atoms from six phenoxy-acetate ligands. The coordination geometry at the Pr(III) atom is distorted tricapped trigonal prismatic. One phenyl ring is disordered over two positions; the site occupancy factors are ca 0.6 and 0.4.

Project description:The title complex, [Mn(2)(C(8)H(3)NO(6))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)](n), was synthesized under hydro-thermal conditions. The structure contains two independent Mn(II) atoms, each coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral MnN(2)O(4) geometry. [Mn(2)(phen)(2)] units (phen = 1,10-phenantroline) are bridged by 5-nitro-isophthalate (nip) ligands into ladder-like chains parallel to [100]. Adjacent polymeric chains are linked by C-H⋯O and π-π inter-actions [centroid-to-centroid distance = 3.6369 (12) Å] into a two-dimensional framework parallel to (010).

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title complex, [Zn(2)Cl(4)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)], each of the two five-coordinated Zn(II) atoms displays a strongly distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry defined by two N atoms from the chelate ligand and by one terminal and two bridging chloride anions. The crystal structure is stabilized by C-H⋯Cl inter-actions. There is inter-molecular π-π stacking between adjacent phenanthroline ligands, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.151 (3) Å.

The Mg(II) ion is coordinated by four N atoms from two 1,10-phenanthroline ligands and two O atoms from coordinated water mol-ecules in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. Inter-molecular O-H⋯N and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π-π inter-actions between the aromatic rings [shortest centroid-centroid separation = 3.527 (2) Å] link the cations, anions and 1,10-phenanthroline solvent mol-ecules into a hydrogen-bonded cluster.
