ABSTRACT: The binuclear title compound, [Cu(2)(CH(3)CO(2))(4)(C(10)H(9)N(3)S)(2)], comprises a Cu(2)(CH(3)CO(2))(4) paddle-wheel core axially bound by two 2-methyl-sulfanyl-4-(pyridin-4-yl)pyrimidine ligands. The complex mol-ecule has an inversion center lying at the mid-point of the Cu-Cu bond.

The coordination environment of each Cu(II) cation is distorted octa-hedral, composed of four bridging acetate ligands, an apical pyridine donor and is completed by a Cu-Cu bond. The amide H atom forms intra-molecular hydrogen bonds to two carboxyl O atoms. In the crystal, weak inter-molecular pyridine-amide C-H?O inter-actions are also present.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(2)(CH(3)CO(2))(4)(C(7)H(5)NS)(2)] or [(C(7)H(5)NS)Cu](2)(?-O(2)CCH(3))(4), crystallizes with one mol-ecule per unit cell. The coordination number of copper is six with four basal O atoms, one axial N atom and one axial Cu atom. Four acetate ligands act as bidentate linker and connect two Cu atoms, with a crystallographic inversion center located at the mid-point of the Cu-Cu bond. The acetate ligands form slightly distorted square planes around each metal ion, while the copper ions are displaced by 0.2089?(4)?Å from these planes towards the N atoms. Thus, the Cu-Cu distance is elongated to 2.6378?(7)?Å, compared with the 2.2180?(7)?Å distance between the two basal planes. The angle between the basal plane and the Cu-N bond is 4.84?(6)°.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(CH(3)CO(2))(2)(C(9)H(7)N(3))(H(2)O)](n), the Cu(II) ion is penta-coordinated in a square-pyramidal geometry. The N atoms of the two chelating symmetry-related 5-(pyridin-3-yl)pyrimidine ligands and the O atoms of the two monodentate acetate anions are nearly coplanar, with a mean deviation from the least-squares plane of 0.157?(2)?Å and the Cu(II) ion is displaced by 0.050?(3)?Å from this plane towards the apical water O atom. Bridging through the bis-monodentate 5-(pyridin-3-yl)pyrimidine ligand forms a one-dimensional coordination polymer extending parallel to [010]. In the crystal, O-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a two-dimensional supra-molecular structure parallel to (100). The crystal studied was an inversion twin with a 0.57?(3):0.43?(3) domain ratio.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(2)(C(7)H(5)O(2))(4)(C(10)H(9)N)(2)], the paddle-wheel-type dinuclear complex mol-ecule contains four bridging benzoate groups and two terminal 3-methyl-quinoline ligands. The asymmetric unit contains one and a half mol-ecules with a total of three independent Cu atoms; there is an inversion center at the mid-point of the Cu?Cu bond in one molecule. The octa-hedral coordination of each Cu atom, with four O atoms in the equatorial plane, is completed by an N atom of a 3-methyl-quinoline ligand [Cu-N = 2.190?(4)-2.203?(3)?Å] and by another Cu atom [Cu?Cu = 2.667?(1) and 2.6703?(7)?Å]. The Cu atoms are all ca 0.22?Å out of the plane of the four bonded O atoms.
