2,2,6,6-Tetra-methyl-4-oxopiperidin-1-ium 4-chloro-3-nitro-benzoate.

ABSTRACT: The title salt, C(9)H(18)NO(+)·C(7)H(3)ClNO(4) (-), was obtained as an unexpected product of the reaction of 4-chloro-3-nitro-benzoyl isothio-cyanate with pyrrolidine. The six-membered ring of the 4-oxopiperidinium cation adopts a chair conformation. In the crystal structure, two cations and three anions are linked together by inter-molecular N-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds and arranged diagonally along the ac face.

Project description:As part of our ongoing investigation on the chemical and biological properties of piperazinium salts, we synthesized three novel compounds: 1-ethyl-piperazinium 3,5-di-nitro-benzoate (I), 1-methyl-piperazinium 3,5-di-nitro-benzoate (II) and 1-methyl-piperazinium 4-iodo-benzoate (III). The crystal structures of these compounds are built up of organic layers formed by the strong connection between the mol-ecules by hydrogen bonds of type N-H⋯O. These layers are linked through N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and C-H⋯O inter-actions or C-I⋯N halogen bonding, leading to the formation of a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title compound, the herbicide bifenox, C14H9Cl2NO5, the dihedral angle between the dichlorobenzene and nitro-benzene rings is 78.79 (14)°. In the crystal, C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds give rise to a three-dimensional network structure in which there are both a π-π inter-action [ring centroid separation = 3.6212 (16) Å] and a C-Cl⋯π inter-action [Cl⋯ring centroid = 3.4754 (8) Å]. In addition, short Cl⋯Cl contacts [3.3767 (11) and 3.3946 (11) Å] are present.
