ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(22)H(19)FN(2)OS, the 2-fluoro-benzoyl group adopts a trans conformation with respect to the thiono S atom across the N-C bond. In the crystal, inter-molecular N-H?S, C-H?S and C-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules, forming a two-dimensional network parallel to (101).

The amide group is twisted relative to the thio-urea fragment, forming a dihedral angle of 46.75?(11)°. In the crystal, inter-molecular N-H?S and C-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a one-dimensional polymeric structure parallel to the c axis.

Project description:Two independent thio-urea mol-ecules comprise the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(22)H(20)N(2)OS. The central N-C(=S)N(H)C(=O) atoms in each mol-ecule are virtually superimposable and each is twisted [C-N-C-S torsion angles = 121.3?(3) and -62.3?(4)°]. The mol-ecules differ only in terms of the relative orientations of the benzyl benzene rings [major difference between the C-N-C-C torsion angles of -146.6?(3) and -132.9?(3)°]. The presence of N-H?S hydrogen bonding leads to the formation of supra-molecular chains along the a axis. These are consolidated in the crystal packing by C-H?O inter-actions. The crystal was found to be a combined non-merohedral and racemic twin (twin law 00/00/001), with the fractional contribution of the minor components being approximately 9 and 28%.

Project description:In the title compound, C(32)H(30)N(4)O(2)S(2), the carbonyl and thio-carbonyl groups are found in a rare synclinal conformation, with an S-C?C-O pseudo-torsion angle of 62.6?(2)°. The mol-ecule has C(i) = S(2) point-group symmetry with a crystallographic center of inversion located in the middle of the ethyl-ene bridge. One of the symmetry-independent phenyl rings is disordered over two orientations, with a site-occupation ratio of 70:30. The distances between the centroids of the nearest phenyl rings are equal to one of the lattice constants [a = 4.7767?(2)?Å], so stacking inter-actions are extremely weak. Mol-ecules are joined by bifurcated hydrogen bonds (N-H?O and N-H?S), forming a ladder-like arrangement along [100]. van der Waals forces combine these ladders into a three-dimensional structure. The dependency between the S?O distance and the improper S=C?C=O torsion angle based on 739 structures containing the CC(=O)NC(=S)N moiety is discussed.
