First report of a case of meningitis caused by Cryptococcus adeliensis in a patient with acute myeloid leukemia.


ABSTRACT: Cryptococcus adeliensis is a recently described new fungal species which has been isolated from decaying algae in Terre Adelie, Antarctica. We report the first known case of meningitis caused by C. adeliensis in a patient with acute myeloid leukemia undergoing allogeneic peripheral blood stem cell transplantation.
