Heptasodium tetra-aluminium tetra-kis-(diphosphate) orthophosphate, Na(7)Al(4)(P(2)O(7))(4)(PO(4)).

ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of title compound contains three Na(+), one Al(3+), three P(5+) and eight O(2-) atoms, with one Na(+) atom lying on a twofold rotation axis and one Na(+) and one P(5+) atom on fourfold rotoinversion axes. The fundamental building units of the title structure are isolated PO(4) tetra-hedra, AlO(6) octa-hedra and P(2)O(7) groups, which are further inter-locked by corner-sharing O atoms, forming a three-dimensional framework structure. The Na(+) atoms are located within the cavities of the framework, showing coordination numbers of 4, 6 and 7.

It belongs to type II of the structural family of M(I)Ln(III)(PO(3))(4) compounds (M(I) = alkali metal and Ln(III) = rare earth metal) and is composed of (?)(PO(3))(n)](n-) polyphosphate chains with a repeating unit of four PO(4) tetra-hedra. The chains extend parallel to [100] and share O atoms with irregular SmO(8) polyhedra, forming a three-dimensional framework which delimits tunnels occupied by Na(+) cations in a distorted octa-hedral environment.

Project description:The structure of the title compound is characterized by the presence of two different anions, (PO4)(3-) and (P2O7)(4-) with an eclipsed conformation. The crystal structure consists of edge-sharing [NiO6] octa-hedra forming an [Ni3O14] chain running parallel to [001]. Adjacent chains are connected through edges and apices to PO4 and P2O7 groups in such a way as to build a three-dimensional host lattice. The resulting framework presents inter-secting tunnels running along [010] and [101] in which the 11-coordinated potassium cation is located. The crystal structure of this new phosphate probably represents a new structural type.

Project description:The title compound, Mg(7)(PO(4))(2)(HPO(4))(4), was synthesized by the hydro-thermal method. The structure is based on a framework of edge- and corner-sharing MgO(6) and MgO(4)(OH)(2) octa-hedra, an MgO(5) polyhedron, PO(4) and PO(3)(OH) tetra-hedra. All atoms are in general positions except for one Mg atom, which is located on a crystallographic inversion centre. The OH groups, bridging Mg-(OH)-P, are involved in strong hydrogen bonds. Compounds with the general formula M(7)(PO(4))(2)(HPO(4))(4) (M = Mg, Mn, Fe and Co) are all isostructural with their homologue arsenate Mg(7)(AsO(4))(2)(HAsO(4))(4).

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C(6)H(9)N(2))(4)[V(4)O(12)]·4H(2)O, contains half of a [V(4)O(12)](4-) anion, two 2-amino-4-methyl-pyridinium, (2a4mpH)(+), cations and two water mol-ecules. One water mol-ecule is disordered over two sets of sites with equal occupancies and the H atoms for this mol-ecule were not included in the refinement. The cation lies on an inversion center with four tetra-hedral VO(4) units each sharing two vertices, forming an eight-membered ring. In the crystal, the components are linked by inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming a one-dimensional network along [100]. Further stabilization is provided by weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds. In addition, ?-? stacking inter-actions with centroid-centroid distances of 3.5420?(18), 3.7577?(18) and 3.6311?(19)?Å are observed.

Project description:In the title centrosymmetric tetra-nuclear complex, [Mn(4)(C(12)H(6)O(4))(4)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(4)(H(2)O)(8)]·4H(2)O, two independent Mn(II) ions are coordinated in a slightly disorted octa-hedral environment by two aqua ligands, two naphthalene-1,8-dicarboxyl-ate (1,8-nap) ligands and one bis-chelating 2,2'-bipyridine (2,2'-bipy) ligand. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds into chains along [100]. These chains are further linked by weak ?-? inter-actions with centroid-centroid distances in the range of 3.609?(2)-3.758?(1)?Å, forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:The solid solution, sodium [iron(III)/manganese(II)] tris-(orthophosphate), Na₃.₄Mn₀.₄Fe₁.₆(PO₄)₃, was obtained using a flux method. Its crystal structure is related to that of NASICON-type compounds. The [(Mn/Fe)₂(PO₄)₃] framework is built up from an (Mn/Fe)O₆octa-hedron (site symmetry 3.), with a mixed Mn/Fe occupancy, and a PO₄ tetra-hedron (site symmetry .2). The Na⁺ cations are distributed over two partially occupied sites in the cavities of the framework. One Na⁺ cation (site symmetry -3.) is surrounded by six O atoms, whereas the other Na⁺ cation (site symmetry .2) is surrounded by eight O atoms.

As a result, there is just one quarter-mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit. The title compound features a Zn(4)O(4) cube. Each Zn atom in the cube carries a pentafluorophenyl substituent. Each O atom is bonded to a further Zn atom, which is connected to a pentafluorophenyl substituent and the O atom of a diethyl ether mol-ecule. All ether C atoms are disordered over two sets of sites with a site occupation factor of 0.51?(2) for the major occupied site.

Crystal structure of a tetra-kis-substituted pyrazine compound: 2,3,5,6-tetra-kis-(bromo-meth-yl)pyrazine.

Project description:The title compound, C8H8Br4N2, crystallizes in the enanti-omorphic-defining space group P41212 and has a refined Flack x parameter of 0.04?(4). In the asymmetric unit, there are two half-mol-ecules; the whole mol-ecules (A and B) are generated by twofold rotation symmetry. In mol-ecule A, the twofold axis is normal to the pyrazine ring passing through the centre of the ring, while in mol-ecule B, the twofold rotation axis lies in the plane of the pyrazine ring bis-ecting the C-C aromatic bonds. The two mol-ecules are pseudo-mirror images of one another, and the best fit of the two mol-ecules was obtained for inverted mol-ecule B on mol-ecule A, with an r.m.s. deviation of 0.1048?Å and a maximum deviation of any two equivalent atoms of 0.2246?Å. In the crystal, the A mol-ecules are linked by weak C-H?Br hydrogen bonds and Br?Br inter-actions [3.524?(3)?Å], forming a three-dimensional framework. The B mol-ecules are also linked by weak C-H?Br hydrogen bonds and Br?Br inter-actions [3.548?(3)?Å], forming a three-dimensional network that inter-penetrates the network of A mol-ecules.
