ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [Zn(2)(C(8)H(4)O(4))(C(20)H(11)N(4)O(2))(2)]·4H(2)O, the Zn(II) atom is six-coordinated by two carboxyl-ate O atoms from one bidentate benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate (1,4-BDC) ligand, two carboxyl-ate O atoms from two different monodentate 4-(1H-1,3,7,8-tetra-aza-cyclo-penta-[l]phenanthren-2-yl)benzoate (HNCP) ligands and two HNCP N atoms. The Zn(II) atoms are bridged by the centrosymmetric 1,4-BDC ligands, forming an extended single-chain structure. Neighbouring single chains are connected by the HNCP ligands from two opposite directions, resulting in a sheet. In addition, there are N-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between adjacent layers. As a result, the polymeric sheets are further extended into a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, {[Fe(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(2)(H(2)O)(6)]·4H(2)O}(n), there are two types of coordination for the Fe(II) atoms. One Fe(II) atom is in a distorted octa-hedral N(2)O(4) environment, with two chelating rings from the pyridine-dicarboxyl-ate ligands and two O atoms from the water mol-ecules, while the other is in a distorted octa-hedral O(6) environment with two O atoms from the pyridine-dicarboxyl-ate ligands and four O atoms from the water mol-ecules. Both Fe(II) atoms lie on crystallographic centers of symmetry. The complex possesses an infinite chain structure running along the [101] direction. These chains are inter-connected by the uncoordinated water mol-ecules through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Adjacent chains inter-act with the uncoordinated water mol-ecules to form a three-dimensional network. The naphthalene-1,4-dicarboxylic acid solvent mol-ecule, which is disordered about a centre of inversion, occupies the space within the network but is not bonded to the network. One NH group is disordered equally over two positions.

The asymmetric unit has four unique Tm(III) ions that are six-, seven-, eight- and nine-coordinate. The cations are inter-connected by bridging benzene-1,2-dicarboxyl-ate (BDC) anions to form an infinite two-dimensional framework, in which the BDC ligands adopt three different coordination modes. Adjacent sheets are further packed to form a three-dimensional supra-molecular framework through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

The structure of this new isopolymorphic one-dimensional coordination polymer features asymmetric bimetallic octa-hedral knots. Project description:The title compound, [Cu(3)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(4)(C(2)H(8)N(2))(2)]·C(2)H(8)N(2)·4H(2)O, was obtained by the reaction of copper(II) acetate dihydrate with pyridine-2,6-dicarb-oxy-lic acid (H(2)dipic) and ethyl-enediamine (en) in an aqueous solution. All of the Cu(II) atoms in the trinuclear centrosymmetric title complex are six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry with N(2)O(4) and N(4)O(2) environments for the outer and central Cu(II) atoms, respectively. Various inter-actions, including numerous O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and C-O⋯π stacking of the pyridine and carboxyl-ate groups [O⋯centroid distances = 3.669 (2) and 3.668 (2) Å] are observed in the crystal structure.

In the crystal, inter-molecular C-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, as well as π-π inter-actions with centroid-centroid distances of 3.514 (3) Å connect the various components into a supra-molecular structure.

The Ca(2+) ions adopt two types of coordination geometries. One Ca(2+) ion, lying on a twofold rotation axis, is eight-coordinated by four carboxyl-ate O atoms from four PDA ligands and four water mol-ecules, and the other two Ca(2+) ions, each lying on an inversion center, are six-coordinated by two carboxyl-ate O atoms from two PDA ligands and four water mol-ecules. The carboxyl-ate groups bridge the Eu(III) and Ca(2+) ions into a three-dimensional porous framework, with channels extending along [010] and [001] in which lattice water mol-ecules are located. Two of the lattice water mol-ecules are disordered over two sets of sites with equal occupancy and one water mol-ecule is 0.25-occupied. Numerous O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the water mol-ecules and carboxyl-ate O atoms are present.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(H(2)O)(6)][Ni(3)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(4)(H(2)O)(4)]·8H(2)O, was obtained by the reaction of nickel(II) nitrate hexa-hydrate with pyridine-2,6-dicarb-oxy-lic acid (pydcH(2)) and 1,10-phenanothroline (phen) in an aqueous solution. The latter ligand is not involved in formation of the title complex. There are three different Ni(II) atoms in the asymmetric unit, two of which are located on inversion centers, and thus the [Ni(H(2)O)(6)](2+) cation and the trinuclear {[Ni(pydc)(2)](2)-μ-Ni(H(2)O)(4)}(2-) anion are centrosymmetric. All Ni(II) atoms exhibit an octa-hedral coordination geometry. Various inter-actions, including numerous O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and C-O⋯π stacking of the pyridine and carboxyl-ate groups [3.570 (1), 3.758 (1) and 3.609 (1) Å], are observed in the crystal structure.
