In the crystal, mol-ecules are connected via O-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming columns around twofold screw axes along the b-axis direction. There is a disorder of the benz-yloxy group, which has two possible orientations with the phenyl group lying on a common plane [site-occupancy factors = 0.589?(9) and 0.411?(9)].

Project description:In the title compound, C(15)H(20)O(4)S, a dioxolane ring is fused to the pyran ring of the sugar which carries a thio-phenyl substituent on the anomeric C atom. The dioxolane ring adopts an envelope conformation and the pyran ring system a distorted (4)C(1) chair. The structure is stabilized by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming centrosymmetric dimers that generate an R(2) (2)(10) ring motif. Additional C-H⋯O inter-actions form an extended network. Two C atoms of the phenyl ring are disordered over two positions; the site occupancy factors are ca. 0.7 and 0.3.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, C(27)H(27)NO(5)S, the pyran-ose ring adopts a (4)C(1) chair conformation with puckering parameters Q = 0.639?(2)?Å, ? = 174.11?(18) and ? = 256?(2)°. The presence of the 2,3-trans-oxazolidinone fixes the conformation of the pyran-ose ring. The phenyl group attached to the S atom and the benzyl group bonding to the N atom are each disordered over two positions with site occupancies of 0.624?(3):0.376?(3) and 0.526?(3):0.474?(3), respectively. An inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bond is observed.

Project description:The title compound, C(21)H(26)O(10)S, was synthesized in a single step from mannose penta-acetate. The mol-ecular structure confirms the α configuration of the anomeric thioaryl substituent. Spectroscopic and melting-point data obtained for the title compound are in disagreement with those previously reported, indicating the previously reported synthesis [Durette & Shen (1980 ▶). Carbohydr. Res. 81, 261-274] to be erroneous. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound C(20)H(20)O(4)S, is polymorphic. In the tetra-gonal form, the mol-ecule lies on a crystallographic twofold axis, while the monoclinic form has only approximate C(2) mol-ecular symmetry. The greatest excursion from C(2) symmetry is in the orientation of the two phenyl rings; at 100 K, one of the rings is rotated -37.2 (3)° and the other by 46.9 (3)° from their symmetric (tetra-gonal) positions. There are only minor differences in the three-ring nucleus; the best mol-ecular fit of the tetra-gonal and monoclinic forms, both at 100 K and excluding phenyl rings and H atoms, shows an r.m.s. deviation of 0.066 Å. Both forms have the same absolute configuration.

Project description:In the title compound, C(23)H(23)NO(6)S, the plane of the N-phthalimido group makes a dihedral angle of 67.4?(1)° with the least square plane of the sugar ring defined by the C2, C3, C5 and O5 atoms using standard glucose nomenclature. The thio-ethyl group has the exo-anomeric conformation. In the crystal, inter-molecular hydrogen bonds involving the hy-droxy groups and the carbonyl O atoms of adjacent N-phthalimido groups form chains parallel to the b axis. The chains are further stabilized by C-H?? inter-actions.

The absolute configuration was determined by the use of d-glucose as starting material. All substituents of the protected sugar are in equatorial positions, with the exclusive presence of the ?-anomer. The crystal packing is stabilized by C-H?O and C-H?N hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.
