ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(26)H(18)BrNO(4), features a functionalized chromene. The cyclo-hexene ring adopts a sofa conformation and has the nitro group and the bromo-phenyl ring in an axial position. The ten atoms of the chromene moiety lie close to a common plane (r.m.s. deviation = 0.066?Å). The attached phenyl ring is twisted by 32.89?(10)° from the chromene plane. The crystal packing is stabilized by C-H?O inter-actions.

In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked to each other through halogen bonds [Br⋯O = 3.118 (2) Å, C-Br⋯O = 162.37 (8) and C=O⋯Br = 140.20 (15)°]. Project description:In the title compound, C10H5BrO3, a brominated 3-formyl-chromone, all atoms are essentially coplanar (r.m.s. = 0.0104 Å for the non-H atoms), with the largest deviation from the least-squares plane [0.028 (5) Å] being for one of the benzene C atoms. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked through C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, which are further assembled by face-to-face π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance between the pyran rings = 3.854 (4) Å]. Shorter contacts than the sum of van der Waals radii are observed between the Br and formyl O atoms [Br⋯O = 3.046 (4) Å, C-Br⋯O = 175.23 (18)° and Br⋯O-C = 132.6 (3)°], features that do indicate halogen bonding.

Project description:In the title compound, C15H9Br2NO3, the chromene unit is not quite planar (r.m.s. deviation from planarity = 0.0888 Å). The di-hydro-pyran ring adopts an envelope conformation with the phenyl-substituted C atom fused to the di-hydro-pyran ring as the flap. The dihedral angle between the plane defined by this C atom and the adjacent C and O atoms and the mean plane of the di-hydro-pyran ring excluding the phenyl-substituted C atom is 25.1 (3)°. The dihedral angle between the mean plane of the chromene unit and the phenyl ring is 85.7 (1)°. The crystal structure features C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and Br⋯O contacts [3.289 (3) Å] involving the nitro O atoms.

Project description:In the title compound, C10H4BrFO3, a brominated and fluorinated 3-formyl-chromone derivative, all atoms are essentially coplanar (r.m.s. deviation of 0.025 Å for the non-H atoms), with the largest deviation from the least-squares plane [0.050 (6) Å] being for a benzene-ring C atom. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked through stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance between the benzene and pyran rings = 3.912 (4) Å], C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and short C⋯O contacts [2.865 (7) Å]. Unsymmetrical halogen⋯halogen inter-actions between the bromine and fluorine atoms [Br⋯F = 3.116 (4) Å, C-Br⋯F = 151.8 (2), C-F⋯Br = 154.1 (4)°] are also formed, giving a meandering two-dimensional network propagating in the (041) plane. A comparison with related structures is made and the various types of weak inter-actions are ranked in importance.

Project description:The title mol-ecule, C(15)H(13)NO, approximates a planar conformation except for the alkyl chain (ethyl group) bonded to the N atom with a maximum deviation from the least-squares plane through the 15 planar atoms of 0.120 (2) Å for the O atom. The distance of the formyl O atom from the plane of the carbazole ring is 0.227 (2) Å. The N-C bond lengths in the central ring are significantly different, reflecting the electron-withdrawing properties of the aldehyde group. As a consequence, charge transfer may occur from the carbazole N atom to the substituted benzene ring.

The carbazole moiety forms a dihedral angle of 72.8 (1)° with the nitro-substituted benzene ring. The O atom of the meth-oxy group deviates by 0.186 (1) Å from the adjacent carbazole moiety. The phenyl-sulfonyl group forms intra-molecular C-H⋯O bonds between sulfone O atoms and the carbazole moiety, resulting in two S(6) rings. In the crystal, the nitrated benzene rings are linked via C-H⋯O inter-actions forming infinite C(7) chains along [100]. The crystal packing is also characterized by C-H⋯π inter-actions, which result in inversion dimers.

There are also supra-molecular R 4 (3)(28) graph-set ring motifs enclosed within these networks.
