N-(2-Eth-oxy-phen-yl)formamide.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(9)H(11)NO(2), was obtained as an unexpected product in an attempt to synthesize a triazene ligand. The title mol-ecule is almost planar, with the formamide and eth-oxy groups oriented at 2.7?(3) and 12.9?(2)°, respectively, with respect to the mean plane of the benzene ring. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming a chain along the a axis. Weak C-H?? inter-actions with an H?? distance of 2.78?Å reinforce the crystal packing, resulting in a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title mol-ecule, C(21)H(19)N(3)O(2), the central pyridine ring makes dihedral angles of 14.46 (9) and 34.67 (8)° with the 4-amino- and 4-eth-oxy-substituted benzene rings, respectively. The eth-oxy group is essentially coplanar with the attached benzene ring [C-O-C-C torsion angle = 178.70 (16)°] as is the meth-oxy group with the pyridine ring [C-O-C-N torsion angle = -3.0 (3)°]. In addition, O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds involving the N-H groups, the water mol-ecules and the C=O group are observed. As a result, a hydrogen-bonded layer parallel to (100) is formed. The thickness of such a layer corresponds to the length of the a axis [21.977 (3) Å].

Project description:The title compound, 2C20H29N2O5S(+)·C6H8O4 (2-)·4H2O, which was found to be optically active, is a relatively rare example of a chiral compound crystallizing in the triclinic crystal system. The dihedral angles between the phenyl rings of the cations are 60.03 (15) and 62.03 (16)°, while the C atoms of the anion are almost coplanar (r.m.s. deviation 0.085 Å) and all trans to each other. In the crystal, the components are connected by an extensive network of N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The sulfonamide groups link the cations into pairs via two N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds about the pseudo-inversion centre, leading to the formation of R 2 (2)(8) rings. The anions are stacked in between four cationic pairs. Pairs of water mol-ecules bridge the larger building units, forming hydrogen bonds with the remaining two O atoms of the anion.

The inter-planar angle between the sydnone and benzene rings is 71.94?(8)°. ?-ring?carbon-yl inter-actions of 3.2038?(16)?Å arise between the sydnone ring and a symmetry-related C=O group.
