ABSTRACT: In the zwitterionic title compound, C(9)H(13)NO(2)S, the pyrrolidine heterocycle adopts an envelope conformation (with the C atom in the 7-position as the flap). The negative charge is delocalized over the two carbonyl groups and the C atom connecting them. The positive charge is located on the S atom. Two inter-molecular C-H?O inter-actions are observed. The molecular geometry at the S atom is trigonal pyramidal.

Weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonding occurs in the crystal structure.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(17)H(15)NO(4), contains two independent mol-ecules with similar geometric parameters. In both mol-ecules, the conformation of the cyclo-hexene ring is half-chair, while the pyrrolidinone ring adopts an envelope conformation with the γ-carbon atom of the α-pyrrolidinone ring as the flap. In the crystal, O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the carb-oxylic and carbonyl groups link alternate independent mol-ecules into chains propagating in the b-axis direction. The crystal packing also features weak C-H⋯π inter-actions.

The dihedral angle between their mean planes (all atoms) is 23.11?(9)°. The new stereocenters are created in a trans-diaxial configuration. In the crystal, O-H?O and O-H?(O,O) hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules, generating a three-dimensional network. A weak C-H?O inter-action also occurs.

Project description:The title compound, C23H30N2O4, a di-Mannich base derived from 4-meth-oxy-phenol and cis-1,2-di-amine-cyclo-hexane, has a perhydro-benzimidazolidine nucleus, in which the cyclo-hexane ring adopts a chair conformation and the heterocyclic ring has a half-chair conformation with a C-N-C-C torsion angles of -48.14 (15) and -14.57 (16)°. The mean plane of the heterocycle makes dihedral angles of 86.29 (6) and 78.92 (6)° with the pendant benzene rings. The mol-ecular structure of the title compound shows the presence of two inter-actions between the N atoms of the imidazolidine ring and the hydroxyl groups through intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds with graph-set motif S(6). The unobserved lone pairs of the N atoms are presumed to be disposed in a syn conformation, being only the second example of an exception to the typical 'rabbit-ears' effect in 1,2-di-amines.

One of the meth-oxy groups in one mol-ecule is twisted away from the phenyl ring [C-O-C-C torsion angle = -103.40?(16)°]. The pyran ring adopts a boat conformation whereas the two fused cyclo-hexane rings adopt envelope conformations in both mol-ecules. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into a three-dimensional network by C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title schulzeine derivative, C(22)H(24)N(2)O(4), crystallizes with two crystallographically independent mol-ecules of almost identical conformation in the asymmetric unit. The tricyclic core of schulzeine has a fused-three-ring system comprising the tetra-hydro-isoquinoline and ?-lactam moieties. In both mol-ecules, the pyridine ring adopts a twisted-boat conformation, whereas the lactam ring is in a boat conformation. The two meth-oxy groups are slightly twisted from the attached benzene ring [C-O-C-C torsion angles = -21.3?(2) and -20.5?(2)° in mol-ecule A, and -6.3?(2) and -16.2?(2)° in mol-ecule B] and the benzamide moiety is in a (-)-synclinal conformation with respect to the lactam ring. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into V-shaped dimers by inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds and weak C-H?O inter-actions. These dimers are stacked into V-shaped columns along the a axis. Adjacent columns are further linked in an anti-parallel manner. C-H?? inter-actions are also observed.

Project description:Single crystals of the title compound, C(10)H(13)OS(+)·Br(-), were obtained from ethyl acetate/ethyl ether after reaction of acetophenone with hydro-bromic acid and dimethyl-sulfoxide. The carbonyl group is almost coplanar with the neighbouring phenyl ring [O-C-C-C = 178.9?(2)°]. The sulfanium group shows a trigonal-pyramidal geometry at the S atom. The crystal structure is stabil-ized by C-H?Br hydrogen-bonding inter-actions. Weak ?-? inter-actions link adjacent phenyl rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.946?(2)?Å].
