The fructopyran-ose ring adopts a chair conformation. The two benzene rings form a dihedral angle of 68.9 (1)°. In the crystal, non-classical inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The title compound, C(23)H(22)O(8), is a binary benzoyl ester whose nucleus consists of a fused system made up of a methyl-enedi-oxy ring and two tetra-hydro-furan rings. One of the benzoyl ester groups is attached at the junction of the two tetra-hydro-furan rings. The other is attached to the outer tetra-furan ring. Both the benzoyl ester groups are in an axial conformation with respect to the outer tetrhydro-furan ring. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by two weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a chain running parallel to the a axis.

Project description:The title compound, C(12)H(19)IO(5), is the ortho-rhom-bic polymorph of a previously reported monoclinic form [Krajewski et al. (1987 ?). Bull. Pol. Acad. Sci. Chem.35, 91-102]. The dihedral angles between the six-membered ring and the two five-membered rings are 67.66?(14) and 71.79?(13)°, whereas the dihedral angle between the five-membered rings is 74.41?(12)°, indicating that all three rings are twisted from each other. The six-membered ring has a twist-boat conformation while both of the five-membered rings have envelope conformations. The crystal structure is stabilized by a network of C-H?O contacts linking the mol-ecules into a two-dimensional array parallel to the ab plane.

The absolute stereochemistry was determined from the starting material. The crystal structure consists of O-H?O hydrogen-bonded chains of mol-ecules running parallel to the b axis.

Project description:The title compound, C21H29NO7 (1) [systematic name: benzyl ({(3aR,5S,6R,6aR)-5-[(R)-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolan-4-yl]-2,2-di-methyl-tetrahydro-furo[2,3-d][1,3]dioxol-6-yl}meth-yl)carbamate], consists of a substituted 2,2-di-methyl-tetra-hydro-furo[2,3-d][1,3]dioxolane skeleton. The furan-ose ring adopts an envelope conformation close to C 3-exo, where the C atom substituted by the benzyl carbamate group is the flap. The fused dioxolane ring also adopts an envelope conformation, as does the terminal dioxolane ring, with in each case an O atom as the flap. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming chains propagating along the b-axis direction.

The conformation is skew-boat (0)S(2), slightly distorted towards boat B(2,5). The inflexible pyran-ose structure makes the title compound a suitable inter-mediate for further synthetic work by keeping stereogenic carbon atoms safe from inversion. Several short intra-molecular C-H? O contacts may stabilize the conformation of the mol-ecule. Inter-molecular C-H?O inter-actions also occur.

Project description:The title compound, C(20)H(26)O(7), was prepared by esterification of 2,3;5,6-di-O-isopropyl-idene-α-d-mannofuran-ose with phenyl-acetic acid under standard DCC/DMAP (DCC = dicyclohexylcarbodiimide and DMAP = 4-dimethylaminopyridine) con-ditions. The solid-state structure confirms the retention of the α-configuration at the anomeric C atom. The compound is characterized by a relatively rigid framework with only a few degrees of freedom. Comparison with other di-O-isopropyl-idenemannofuran-ose derivatives shows the main differences to be associated with the flexible dimethyl-dioxolane ring, and that there are only small differences for the 2,3-O-isopropyl-idene-α-d-manno-furan-ose backbone. The packing is marked by a large number of weak C-H⋯O inter-actions.
