Three enzyme activities in the protozoan Leishmania major, namely N(5),N(10)-methylenetetrahydrofolate dehydrogenase/N(5),N(10)-methenyltetrahydrofolate cyclohydrolase (DHCH) and N(10)-formyltetrahydrofolate ligase (FTL) produce the essential intermediate N(10)-formyltetrahydrofolate.
