Species of the genus Chrysotimus Loew from China (Diptera, Dolichopodidae).

ABSTRACT: THE FOLLOWING THREE SPECIES ARE DESCRIBED AS NEW TO SCIENCE: Chrysotimus dalongensissp. n., Chrysotimus huairouensissp. n., and Chrysotimus hubeiensissp. n., Chrysotimus apicicurvatus Yang, is recorded from Palaearctic China for the first time. A key to the Chinese species of the genus is presented.

Project description:The genus Liancalus Loew is revised for the Nearctic Region. Seven species are documented from this region including two new species: Liancalusgenualis Loew, Liancalushydrophilus Aldrich, Liancaluslimbatus Van Duzee, Liancaluspterodactyl sp. n., Liancalusquerulus Osten Sacken, Liancalussimilis Aldrich, and Liancalussonorus sp. n. Lectotypes are designated for the following species: Liancalusgenualis, Liancalushydrophilus, Liancalusquerulus, and Liancalussimilis. The species are illustrated, a key to males and females is provided, and their distributions mapped. Adults of Liancalus are some of the largest species of Dolichopodidae and commonly occur on waterfalls and vertical seeps.

The following two species from Gansu Province of China are described as new to science: Xanthochlorus gansuensissp. n. and Xanthochlorus tewoensissp. n. Project description:Previously only one species of the genus Diostracus was known to occur in Tibet. Here the following two new species are added to the fauna of Tibet: Diostracusacutatus sp. n. and Diostracustibetensis sp. n. Their relationships with similar species are discussed. A key to the species of Diostracus from the Himalayas is presented.

Project description:Protomedeteragen. n. (Diptera: Dolichopodidae), a new genus of the subfamily Medeterinae, is described from the Oriental and Australasian realms based on four new species. Protomedetera singaporensis Grootaert & Tang, sp. n. is designated as type of the new genus. The genus is peculiar because of the small body size, the small globular first flagellomere (postpedicel), the simple male genitalia with indistinct or small epandrial lobe and half-hidden cercus. The following four new species are described and illustrated: P. biconvexasp. n., P. bisetasp. n., P. glabrasp. n., and P. singaporensissp. n. A key to the species of the new genus is provided.
