ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [Zn(C?O?)(C?H?O?)](n), the Zn(II) ion is in a distorted octa-hedral environment formed by two O atoms from an ethyl-ene glycol mol-ecule and four O atoms from two oxalate anions. The oxalate anions link the Zn(II) ions, forming a zigzag chain along [010]. The zigzag chains are extended into a three-dimensional network by O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

The oxalate anions act as bis-bidentate ligands, bridging the Cu-phen units in zigzag chains extending parallel to [100]. Project description:The title compound, [Sn(C4H9)2(C2O4)] n , an unexpected side product in the reaction of di-tert-butyl-tin(IV) oxide with nitric acid, represents the first diorganotin(IV) oxalate to be structurally characterized. The Sn(IV) atom of the one-dimensional coordination polymer is located on a mirror plane and is coordinated by two chelating oxalate ions with two rather different Sn-O bond lengths of 2.150 (1) and 2.425 (1) Å, and two t-butyl groups with Sn-C bond lengths of 2.186 (2) and 2.190 (2) Å. The coordination polyhedron around the Sn(IV) atom is a distorted tetra-gonal disphenoid. The centrosymmetric oxalate ion also has an asymmetric coordination geometry, as reflected by the two slightly different C-O bond lengths of 1.242 (2) and 1.269 (2) Å. The chains of the polymer propagate along the b-axis direction. Only van der Waals inter-actions are observed between the chains.

Project description:In the title compound, [Co2(SO4)2(C10H8N2)2(C2H6O2)2(H2O)2] n , there are two crystallographically independent Co(II) ions, each of which lies on a twofold rotation axis and has a slightly distorted octa-hedral environment. One Co(II) ion is coordinated by two N atoms from two bridging 4,4'-bipyridine (4,4'-bipy) ligands, two O atoms from two sulfate ions and two O atoms from aqua ligands. The second Co(II) ion is similar but with ethane-1,2-diol ligands in place of water mol-ecules. The sulfate anions act as bridging ligands to link two adjacent Co(II) ions together, leading to the formation of linear ⋯Co1Co2Co1Co2⋯chains along the a axis. Adjacent chains are further bridged by 4,4'-bipy ligands, which are also located on the twofold rotation axis, resulting in a two-dimensional layered polymer extending parallel to (001). In the crystal, the layers are linked by extensive O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involving the O atoms of the water mol-ecules and ethane-1,2-diol mol-ecules, resulting in a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.
