Trans-Bis(nitrato-?O)tetra-kis-(1-vinyl-1H-imidazole-?N(3))copper(II).

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Cu(NO(3))(2)(C(5)H(6)N(2))(4)], the Cu(II) ion is located on an inversion centre. It features a Jahn-Teller-distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry, defined by four N atoms of four 1-vinyl-imidazole ligands in the equatorial plane and two nitrate O atoms in the axial positions. The nitrate anion is disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.801?(6):0.199?(6) ratio. In the crystal, the complex mol-ecules are linked by weak inter-molecular C-H?O and C-H?? inter-actions.

In the title compound, [Cu(NO(3))(2)(C(5)H(6)N(2))(4)], the Cu(II) ion is located on an inversion centre. It features a Jahn-Teller-distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry, defined by four N atoms of four 1-vinyl-imidazole ligands in the equatorial plane and two nitrate O atoms in the axial positions. Project description:The title compound, [Cu(ClO(4))(2)(C(3)H(4)N(2))(4)], was obtained unexpectedly by the reaction of copper(II) perchlorate hexa-hydrate with equimolar amounts of 1-chloro-1-nitro-2,2,2-tripyrazolylethane in methanol solution. The crystal structure comprises octa-hedrally coordinated Cu(2+) ions, located on an inversion centre, with four pyrazole ligands in the equatorial plane. The average Cu-N distance is 2.000?(1)?Å. Two perchlorate ions are coordinated to copper in trans positions [Cu-O = 2.4163?(11)?Å].

Project description:In the title salt, [Cu(NO(3))(C(7)H(6)N(2))(4)]NO(3), one nitrate anion is coordinated to the Cu(II) atom, which is also coordinated by the N atoms of four N-heterocycles. The geometry at the metal atom is a square pyramid in which the O atom of the anion occupies the apical position [Cu-O = 2.468?(5) and 2.590?(7)?Å in the two independent formula units]. The cation lies on a twofold rotation axis; the coordinated nitrate anion is also disordered about this symmetry element. The lattice anion is also disordered about a twofold rotation axis. In the crystal, the cations are linked to the coordinated and free anions by N-H?O hydrogen bonds.

The Cu-Cl distance of 2.8719?(5)?Å is long due to the Jahn-Teller distortion of the d(9) electron configuration of Cu(II) ion. The tetra-zole and pyrazine rings make an N-C-C-N torsion angle of 38.25?(17)°. The charge of the anionic complex is balanced by four dimethyl-ammonium cations, which inter-act with the anionic complexes via N-H?N and N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds.

The Yb(III) ion is seven-coordinated, in a monocapped trigonal prismatic coordination geometry, by six O atoms from three imidazole-4,5-dicarboxyl-ate ligands and one water O atom. Both Co(II) ions are six-coordinated in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. The Co(II) ion that is located on an inversion center is coordinated by two O atoms from two water mol-ecules, as well as two O atoms and two N atoms from two imidazole-4,5-dicarboxyl-ate ligands. The second Co(II) ion is bonded to four O atoms and two N atoms from four imidazole-4,5-dicarboxyl-ate ligands. These metal coordination units are connected by bridging imidazole-4,5-dicarboxyl-ate ligands, generating a three-dimensional network. The crystal structure is further stabilized by N-H?O, O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involving the water mol-ecules and the imidazole-4,5-dicarboxyl-ate ligands.
