Bis[2-(2-hy-droxy-meth-yl)pyridine-?(2)N,O](pivalato-?O)copper(II).

ABSTRACT: The structure of the centrosymmetric title complex, [Cu(C(5)H(9)O(2))(2)(C(6)H(7)NO)(2)], has the Cu(II) atom on a centre of inversion. The Cu(II) atom is six-coordinate with a distorted octa-hedral geometry, defined by the N and O atoms of the chelating 2-(2-hydroxymethyl)pyridine ligands and two carboxyl-ate O atoms from two monodentate pivalate ions. The crystal packing is stabilized by inter-molecular C-H?O and intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen-bond inter-actions.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(C(7)H(5)O(3))(2)(C(5)H(5)N)(2)], the Cu atom is located on an inversion center and is coordinated by the N atoms of the two pyridine ligands, trans to each other, and to the carboxyl-ate O atoms of two bidentate 4-hy-droxy-benzoate ligands [Cu-O = 1.9706 (10) and 2.5204 (11) Å]. Hydrogen bonding between hy-droxy H and carboxyl-ate O atoms results in a layer structure parallel to the ab plane.

Project description:The title compound, 2C(21)H(19)N(3)O(2)·H(2)O, was synthesized by a Schiff base condensation of 2,6-diformyl-pyridine with 2-amino-4-methyl-phenol in ethanol. In the crystal, two mol-ecules of 2,6-bis-[(2-hy-droxy-5-methyl-phen-yl)imino-meth-yl]pyridine dimer-ize via hydrogen bonding to a water mol-ecule, which lies on a twofold axis. There are also intra-molecular phenol-imine hydrogen bonds. The dimers are further linked via π-π (phen-yl-pyridine) [centroid-centroid distance = 3.707 (2) Å] and π-π edge-to-edge [3.392 (2) Å] inter-actions. The dihedral angles between the central ring and the two pendant rings are 11.46 (8) and 2.06 (8)° while the pendant rings make a dihedral angle of 10.14 (8)°.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(C12H16NO2)2], the Cu(II) ion, located on a center of inversion, is coordinated by two singly deprotonated Schiff base ligands derived from condensation of salicyldehyde and 1-amino-pentan-5-ol. The imino N and phenol O atoms from both ligands offer a square-planar arrangement around the metal ion. The Cu-N and Cu-O bond lengths are 2.0146 (15) and 1.8870 (12) Å, respectively. Since the Cu-O and Cu-N bond lengths are different, it can be concluded that the resulting geometry of the complex is distorted. The aliphatic -OH group of the ligand is not coordinated and points away from the metal coordination zone and actively participates in hydrogen bonding connecting two other units and thus stabilizing the crystal lattice. This results in a two-dimensional extended array parallel to (201).

Project description:The title cluster, [Cu4(C11H12N2O6)4], was obtained from the Cu(0)-FeCl2·4H2O-H4 L-Et3N-DMF reaction system (in air), where H4 L is 2-hy-droxy-methyl-2{[(2-hy-droxy-3-nitro-phen-yl)methyl-idene]amino}-propane-1,3-diol and DMF is di-methyl-formamide. The asymmetric unit consists of one Cu(2+) ion and one dianionic ligand; a -4 symmetry element generates the cluster, which contains a {Cu4O4} cubane-like core. The metal ion has an elongated square-based pyramidal CuNO4 coordination geometry with the N atom in a basal site. An intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond is observed. The solvent mol-ecules were found to be highly disordered and their contribution to the scattering was removed with the SQUEEZE procedure in PLATON [Spek (2009 ▶). Acta Cryst. D65, 148-155], which indicated a solvent cavity of volume 3131 Å(3) containing approximately 749 electrons. These solvent molecules are not considered in the given chemical formula.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(5))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(2)], exhibits a centrosymmetric binuclear molecule. Each completely deprotonated 4-hy-droxy-pyridine-2,6-dicarb-oxy-lic acid mol-ecule assumes a tridentate chelating coordination mode. The square-pyramidal coordination geometry around the Cu(II) ion is completed by the bridging bipyridine ligand and an apical water molecule. Adjacent complexes are connected via O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds to generate a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

Project description:In the title complex, [Cu(NCS)(2)(C(6)H(8)N(2))(2)], the Cu(II) atom, lying on an inversion center, adopts a Jahn-Teller distorted octahedral CuN(6) coordination geometry. The two bidentate 2-amino-methyl-pyridine ligands are coordinated in a trans fashion, while the two thio-cyanate ligands are at the axial positions and coordinate to the Cu atom in a bent mode with a C-N-Cu angle of 127.49 (10)°. Inter-molecular N-H⋯N and N-H⋯S hydrogen bonds link the copper complex mol-ecules into an infinite two-dimensional network.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu4(C11H13NO4)4]·CH3CH2OH·2.5H2O, is an electronically neutral tetra-nuclear copper(II) complex with a cubane-like Cu4O4 core. The complete molecule has point group symmetry 2. The phenol hy-droxy group and one of the three alcohol hy-droxy groups of each 2-{[tris-(hy-droxy-meth-yl)meth-yl]imino-meth-yl}phenol ligand are depro-ton-ated, while the secondary amine and the other two hy-droxy groups remain unchanged. The Cu(II) atoms in the Cu4O4 core are connected by four ?3-O atoms from the deprotonated alcohol hy-droxy groups. Each of the penta-coordinated Cu(II) ions has an NO4 distorted square-pyramidal environment through coordination to the tridentate Schiff base ligands. The Cu-N/O bond lengths span the range 1.902?(4)-1.955?(4)?Å, similar to values reported for related structures. There are O-H?O hydrogen-bond inter-actions between the complex molecules and the ethanol and water solvent molecules, leading to the formation of a three-dimensional network. The ethanol solvent molecule is disordered about a twofold rotation axis. One of the two independent water molecules is also located on this twofold rotation axis and shows half-occupancy.

Bis[2-(hy-droxy-imino-meth-yl)phenolato]nickel(II): a second monoclinic polymorph.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(C(7)H(6)NO(2))(2)], (I), is a second monoclinic polymorph of the compound, (II), reported by Srivastava et al. [Acta Cryst. (1967), 22, 922] and Mereiter [Private communication (2002) CCDC refcode NISALO01]. The bond lengths and angles are similar in both structures. The mol-ecule in both structures lies on a crystallographic inversion center and both have an inter-nal hydrogen bond. The title compound crystallizes in the space group P2(1)/c (Z = 2), whereas compound (II) is in the space group P2(1)/n (Z = 2) with a similar cell volume but different cell parameters. In both polymorphs, mol-ecules are arranged in the layers but in contrast to the previously published compound (II) where the dihedral angle between the layers is 86.3°, in the title polymorph the same dihedral angle is 29.4°. The structure of (I) is stabilized by strong intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding between the O-H group and the phenolate O atom.

The Ni(II) atom is six-coordinated by two phenolate O, two imine N and two hy-droxy O atoms from two crystallographically different Schiff base ligands, forming an octa-hedral geometry. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular O-H⋯O and O-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network.
