In the centrosymmetric title compound, [Cu(2)(C(10)H(8)O(4))Cl(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·2H(2)O, the Cu(II) atom is five-coordinated in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry by two N atoms from a chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligand, one O atom from a 1,4-phenyl-enediacetate ligand, one Cl atom and one water mol-ecule. The 1,4-phenyl-enediacetate ligand, lying on an inversion center, bridges two Cu(II) atoms. In the crystal, O-H⋯O and O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds and π-π inter-actions between the pyr ...[more]
