2-(Anthracen-9-yl)-10-meth-oxy-benzo[h]quinoline acetone hemisolvate.

ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title structure, C(28)H(19)NO·0.5C(3)H(6)O, comprises one 2-(anthracen-9-yl)-10-meth-oxy-benzo[h]-quinoline mol-ecule and an acteone mol-ecule with an occupany of 0.5. The solvent mol-ecule is disordered around a centre of symmetry. Its occupancy was determined from NMR data and kept fixed during the refinement. The two conjugated ring systems of the mol-ecule are almost perpendicular to each other; the inter-planar angle between the anthracene and quinoline ring systems is 84.9 (2)°.

Project description:In the title compound, C(14)H(10)N(4)O(5)S·0.5C(3)H(6)O, the nitro-benzoyl and nitro-phenyl groups have trans and cis configurations, respectively, with respect to the thio-urea S atom. The mol-ecular conformation is stabilized by intra-molecular N-H⋯O and C-H⋯S hydrogen bonds. The acetone solvent mol-ecule possesses a crystallographically imposed twofold axis. In the crystal packing, thio-urea mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen-bond inter-actions to form chains running parallel to the c axis. The chains are further bridged via N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the acetone mol-ecules.

8-{[3-(3-Meth-oxy-phen-yl)-1,2,4-oxa-diazol-5-yl]meth-oxy}quinoline monohydrate.

Project description:In the title hydrate, C19H15N3O3·H2O, the three aromatic groups in the quinoline derivative are close to coplanar: the central oxa-diazole fragment makes dihedral angles of 15.7?(2)° with the benzene ring and 5.30?(14)° with the quinoline ring system. In the crystal, the organic mol-ecules are connected with water mol-ecules by pairs of O-H?N hydrogen bonds involving the quinoline and oxa-diazole N atoms. The mol-ecules form stacks along the a axis, neighboring mol-ecules within each stack being related by inversion and the shortest distance between the centroids of the oxa-diazole and pyridine rings being 3.500?(2)?Å. Mol-ecules from neighboring stacks are linked by weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional structure.

Crystal structure of 2-chloro-3-(di-meth-oxy-meth-yl)-6-meth-oxy-quinoline.

Project description:The title compound, C13H14ClNO3, crystallizes with Z' = 2 in the space group Pca21, but a search for possible additional crystallographic symmetry found none. However, the crystal structure exhibits pseudosymmetry as the two independent mol-ecules are related by an approximate but non-crystallographic inversion located close to (0.38, 0.26, 1/2) in the selected asymmetric unit, and the structure exhibits partial inversion twinning. The approximate inversion relationship between the two mol-ecules in the selected asymmetric unit is clearly shown by comparison of the relevant torsion angle in the two mol-ecules; the corresponding torsion angles have similar, although not identical magnitudes but with opposite signs. The mean planes of the quinoline rings in the two independent mol-ecules are almost parallel, with a dihedral angle of only 0.16?(3)° between them, and the mutual orientation of these rings permits significant ?-? stacking inter-actions between them [centroid-centroid distances = 3.7579?(15) and 3.7923?(15)?Å]. In addition, the bimolecular aggregates which are related by translation along [010] are linked by a further ?-? stacking inter-action [centroid-centroid distance = 3.7898?(15)?Å], so forming a ?-stacked chain running parallel to [010]. However, there are no C-H?N hydrogen bonds in the structure nor, despite the number of independent aromatic rings, are there any C-H?? hydrogen bonds; hence there are no direction-specific inter-actions between adjacent ?-stacked chains.

Project description:The title compound, C(21)H(16)N(2)O, has an E-conformation about the diazene N=N bond. It is reasonably planar with the phenyl ring being inclined to the mean plane of the anthracene moiety [planar to within 0.077 (3) Å] by 6.43 (10)°. The crystal structure is stabilized by C-H⋯π and weak π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances of 3.7192 (16) and 3.8382 (15) Å], leading to the formation of two-dimensional networks stacking along [001] and lying parallel to (110).

The dihedral angle between the planes formed by the coumarin ring system and the benzene substituent is 54.60?(7)°, clearly showing the non-coplanarity of the whole aromatic system.
