ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(21)H(20)N(2)O, the piperidine ring adopts a chair conformation while the pyran ring adopts a screw-boat conformation. The piperidine ring forms dihedral angles of 65.75?(3) and 67.79?(5)° with the chroman and methyl-substituted benzene rings, respectively. The crystal structure features weak C-H?? and ?-? [centroid-centroid distance = 3.8098?(8)?Å] inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, C26H31N3O2S, crystallizes with two mol-ecules (A and B) in the asymmetric unit. In each case, the piperidine ring exists in a twist-boat conformation. The dihedral angle between the phenyl rings is 46.16 (12)° in mol-ecule A and 44.95 (12)° in mol-ecule B. In both mol-ecules, the allyl side chain is disordered over two orientations in a 0.649 (9):0.351 (9) ratio for mol-ecule A and 0.826 (10):0.174 (10) ratio for mol-ecule B. In the crystal, neither mol-ecule forms a hydrogen bond from its N-H group, presumably due to steric hindrance. A+A and B+B inversion dimers are formed, linked by pairs of weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds enclosing R 2 (2)(22) ring motifs.

Project description:In the title compound, C20H14N2O, the phenyl ring is almost normal to the naphthalene ring system with a dihedral angle of 86.72?(9)°. The 4H-pyran ring fused with the naphthalene ring system has a boat conformation. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into a helical supra-molecular chain along the b axis via N-H?N hydrogen bonds. The chains are consolidated into a three-dimensional architecture by C-H?? inter-actions.

The 4H-pyran ring is almost perpendicular to the benzene ring [dihedral angle = 87.23?(8)°] and is almost coplanar with the mean plane of the cyclo-hexene ring [dihedral angle = 8.01?(8)°]. In the crystal, inversion-related mol-ecules are linked by pairs of inter-molecular N-H?N hydrogen bonds, forming inversion dimers with R(2) (2)(12) ring motifs. These dimers are further connected by N-H?O and C-H?N hydrogen bonds, forming a layer structure extending parallel to (0-12). Overall, the 1H-benzo[f]chromene fused-ring system approximates a plane (r.m.s. deviation of the 14 non-H atoms = 0.049?Å). The fluoro-benzene ring is almost perpendicular to this plane [dihedral angle = 89.58?(8)°]. Zigzag supra-molecular tapes along the b axis are the most notable feature of the crystal packing. This arises through an alternating sequence of 12-membered {?HNC3N}2 and eight-membered {?HNCO}2 synthons. These are connected into a three-dimensional architecture by ?-?
