ABSTRACT: In the title mol-ecule, C(17)H(17)NO(4), the dihedral angle between the two aromatic rings is 42.47 (7)°. The nitro group is twisted by 7.44 (11)° out of the plane of the ring to which it is attached. The methoxy and ethoxy group O atoms deviate significantly from the phenyl ring [by 0.0108 (11) and 0.0449 (11) Å, respectively]. The crystal structure is stabilized by C-H⋯π inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, C(15)H(15)N(3)O(4), a Schiff base, was obtained from a condensation reaction of 3-eth-oxy-4-hydroxy-benzaldehyde and 2-nitro-phenyl-hydrazine. The mol-ecule is approximately planar, the largest deviation from the mean plane being 0.1449 (16) Å. An intramolecular N-H⋯O inter-action is also present. In the crystal, inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules, forming chain parallel to the b axis.

The mol-ecule is nearly planar; the dihedral angle between the hydroxy-benzene ring and the nitro-benzene ring is 6.57 (7)°. O-H⋯O, O-H⋯N and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding helps to stabilize the crystal structure.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(20)H(17)NO(4), consists of two crystallographically independent mol-ecules. In one of the mol-ecules, the central benzene ring forms dihedral angles of 2.26 (6) and 58.68 (6)° with the terminal benzene rings and the dihedral angle between the terminal benzene rings is 56.45 (6)°. The corresponding values for the other mol-ecule are 35.17 (6), 70.97 (6) and 69.62 (6)°, respectively. In the crystal, an inversion dimer linked by a pair of C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds occurs for one of the unique mol-ecules. C-H⋯π and π-π [centroid-centroid distances = 3.7113 (8) and 3.7216 (7) Å] inter-actions link the components into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the structure of the title salt, C20H20NO(+)·C6H4FO3S(-), the 4-(eth-oxy-phen-yl)ethenyl unit is disordered over two positions with a refined site-occupancy ratio of 0.610 (6):0.390 (6). The cation is nearly planar, the dihedral angle between the quinolinium and benzene rings being 6.7 (4) and 1.7 (7)° for the major and minor components, respectively. The eth-oxy group is essentially coplanar with the benzene ring [C-O-C-Cmethy = 177.1 (8) and 177.8 (12)° for the major and minor components, respectively]. In the crystal, cations and anions are linked into chains along the b-axis direction by C-H⋯Osulfon-yl weak inter-actions. These chains are further connected into sheets parallel to (001) by C-H⋯Osulfon-yl weak inter-actions. The chains are also stacked along the a axis through π-π inter-actions involving the quinolinium and benzene rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.636 (5) Å for the major component and 3.800 (9) Å for the minor component]. C-H⋯π inter-actions are also present.

Project description:In the title compound, C(16)H(18)NO(+)·C(6)H(4)BrO(3)S(-)·0.5CH(3)OH, the cation exists in the E configuration and the whole mol-ecule of the cation, except for the O atom of the eth-oxy group, is disordered with a site-occupancy ratio of 0.695 (5):0.305 (5). The cation is disordered in such a way that the ethenyl units of the major and minor components are related by 180° around the long mol-ecular axis. In the major component, the cation is almost planar, the dihedral angle between the pyridinium and benzene rings being 0.8 (3)°, whereas in the minor component, the dihedral angle between the two aromatic rings is 4.2 (6)°. In the crystal, the cations are stacked in an anti-parallel manner along the a axis, while the anions and methanol mol-ecules are linked through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and Br⋯O short contacts [3.0248 (13) Å] into a tape along the same direction. The three components are further linked by weak C-H⋯O, C-H⋯Br and C-H⋯π inter-actions.
