Prenatal diagnosis of truncus arteriosus with two-dimensional sonography requires expertise in fetal echocardiography. Indeed, truncus arteriosus shares with tetralogy of Fallot and pulmonary atresia with a ventricular septal defect (VSD) the sonographic finding of a single arterial trunk overriding a VSD.
