Complete genomic sequence of goose-origin reovirus from China.

ABSTRACT: We report the full-genome sequence of a goose-origin reovirus (GRV) strain 03G from Zhejiang Province, China. This is the first report of the complete genomic sequence (segments 1 to 10) of GRV. Phylogenetic analyses of the sequence suggest that GRV 03G represents a new species distinct from other established species within the avian reovirus (ARV) group of orthoreoviruses.

Project description:The complete genomic sequence of a new Muscovy duck-origin reovirus (N-MDRV), strain J18 from China, was determined. The virus has a tricistronic S1 genome segment that is distinct from the originally described MDRV, which possesses a bicistronic S4 genome segment. Pairwise comparisons and phylogenetic analyses suggest that N-MDRV J18 is a new isolate within the species Avian orthoreovirus.

Complete genomic sequence of a reovirus isolate from Pekin ducklings in China.

Project description:The complete genomic sequence of a Pekin duck origin reovirus (DRV) from China was determined. The genome comprises 23,419 bp, with segments ranging from 1,191 bp (S4) to 3,959 bp (L1). Pairwise comparisons and phylogenetic analysis indicate that the Pekin duck origin reovirus is more closely related to the new type of Muscovy duck origin reovirus (N-MDRV) identified recently than to the chicken origin avian orthoreovirus (ARV) and the originally described Muscovy duck origin reovirus (ARV-Md).

Genomic analysis of Sheldrake origin goose hemorrhagic polyomavirus, China.

Project description:Goose hemorrhagic polyomavirus (GHPV) is not a naturally occurring infection in geese in China; however, GHPV infection has been identified in Pekin ducks, a domestic duck species. Herein, we investigated the prevalence of GHPV in five domestic duck species (Liancheng white ducks, Putian black ducks, Shan Sheldrake, Shaoxing duck, and Jinyun Sheldrake) in China. We determined that the Jinyun Sheldrake duck species could be infected by GHPV with no clinical signs, whereas no infection was identified in the other four duck species. We sequenced the complete genome of the Jinyun Sheldrake origin GHPV. Genomic data comparison suggested that GHPVs share a conserved genomic structure, regardless of the host (duck or geese) or region (Asia or Europe). Jinyun Sheldrake origin GHPV genomic characterization and epidemiological studies will increase our understanding of potential heterologous reservoirs of GHPV.

Complete genomic sequence of a Muscovy duck-origin reticuloendotheliosis virus from China.

Project description:The complete proviral sequence of a Muscovy duck-origin reticuloendotheliosis virus (REV) associated with spontaneously occurring neoplastic disease in 2011 in Zhejiang province, China, was determined. Comparative sequence analyses indicate that the present REV is most closely related to the chicken-origin REV isolate HLJR0901 and the goose-origin isolate Goose/3410/06. These findings suggest that chickens or geese may transmit the REV to Muscovy ducks.

Complete genome sequence and phylogenetic analysis of a goose astrovirus isolate in China.

Project description:Astroviruses are considered the cause of gastroenteritis in humans and animals. Studies in recent years show avian astroviruses are also associated with duckling hepatitis, gosling gout, and chicken nephritis. In this study, a GAstV strain, designated as JS2019/China, was detected in dead goslings from a commercial goose farm in Jiangsu province of China. Viral strain was proliferated in goose embryos and sequence analysis showed the isolated strain had a classical structure arrangement and a series of conserved regions compared with other GAstVs. Sequence comparison and phylogenetic analysis of whole genome and ORF2 revealed that JS2019/China belongs to the GAstV-1 group, which consists of most of the GAstV strains. Amino acid analysis indicated that some mutants might have an impact on viral protease capacity, such as V505I and K736E of ORF1a and T107I, F342S, and S606P of ORF2. Taken together, a novel GAstV strain was isolated and genomic analysis and protein polymorphism analysis indicated that some amino acid mutants might affect the viral virulence.

Project description:We report here the complete genomic sequence of the Chinese duck flavivirus TA strain. This work is the first to document the complete genomic sequence of this previously unknown duck flavivirus strain. The sequence will help further relevant epidemiological studies and extend our general knowledge of flaviviruses.

Complete genome sequence of goose tembusu virus, isolated from jiangnan white geese in jiangsu, china.

Project description:Avian tembusu virus (TMUV), which was first identified in eastern China, is an emerging virus causing serious economic losses in the Chinese poultry industry. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of goose tembusu virus strain JS804, isolated from Jiangnan white geese with severe neurological signs. The genome of JS804 is 10,990 nucleotides (nt) in length and contains a single open reading frame encoding a putative polyprotein of 3,425 amino acids. Research of the whole sequence of tembusu virus will help us to understand further the molecular and evolutionary characteristics and pathogenesis of this virus.
