(2.2.2-Cryptand)potassium bis-(cyanato-?N)(5,10,15,20-tetra-phenyl-por-phy-rin-ato-?(4)N)cobaltate(III) chloro-benzene hemisolvate.

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [K(C(18)H(36)N(2)O(6))][Co(NCO)(2)(C(44)H(28)N(4))]·0.5C(6)H(5)Cl or [K(2,2,2-crypt)(+)][Co(III)(NCO)(2)(TPP)(-)]·0.5C(6)H(5)Cl, the Co(III) ion is octa-hedrally coordin-ated by two axial N-bonded NCO(-) anions and four pyrrole N atoms of the porphyrin. There is a major ruffling distortion of the porphyrin: the dihedral angles between trans pyrrole rings are 34.32?(14) and 34.72?(14)°. The potassium ion is coordinated by the six O atoms and two N atoms of the cryptand-222 mol-ecule and a weak K-O [3.407?(3)?Å] bond to one of the cyanate O atoms also occurs. The packing also features weak C-H?O and C-H?? inter-actions. The contribution to the scattering of the disordered chloro-benzene solvent mol-ecules was removed with the SQUEEZE function in PLATON [Spek (2009 ?). Acta Cryst. D65, 148-155].

The asymmetric unit contains one cation and one tetrahedral anion, both in general positions. Based on comparison of the four carbonyl C-O bond lengths and C-Co-C angles, the anion is unperturbed by the cation, which is normal for an alkali metal fully encased by a cryptand cage.

Project description:The cation, anion, and solvent in the title compound, [K(C(18)H(36)N(2)O(6))][Co(C(8)H(12))(C(16)H(10))(2)]·0.5C(5)H(12), are well separated. The pentane solvent mol-ecules are found in channels along [100] and were modeled as disordered over crystallographic inversion centers. Using the mid-points of the coordinated olefins, the angle between the C(py)/C(py)-Co-C(py)/C(py) and the C(cod)/C(cod)-Co-C(cod)/C(cod) planes (py is pyrene and cod is cyclo-octa-diene) is 67.6?(2)°. Thus, the overall geometry of the coordination sphere around cobalt is best described as distorted tetra-hedral.

Project description:The reaction of [Co(III)(TPP)Cl] (TPP is the dianion of 5,10,15,20-tetra-phenyl-porphyrin) with an excess of 4-nitro-aniline in di-chloro-methane leads to the title compound, [Co(III)(C44H28N4)(C6H6N2O2)2]Cl·CH2Cl2. The Co(III) ion lies on an inversion centre and is octa-hedrally coordinated by two N atoms of the NH2 groups of the two 4-nitro-aniline trans-axial ligands and four pyrrole N atoms of the porphyrin. The asymmetric unit contains one half of the [Co(III)(TPP)(4-nitro-aniline)2](+) ion complex, one chloride counter-ion (lying on a twofold rotation axis) and one half di-chloro-methane solvent mol-ecule, where the C atom lies on a twofold rotation axis. The average equatorial Co-N(pyrrole) distance (Co-Np) is 1.982?(2)?Å and the axial Co-N(4-nitro-aniline) bond length is 2.006?(2)?Å. The crystal packing is stabilized by an N-H?Cl hydrogen bond between the N atom of the amino group of the 4-nitro-aniline axial ligand and the chloride counter-ion. The supra-molecular architecture is further stabilized by weak C-H?? inter-actions.

Project description:The title salt, [K(C(18)H(36)N(2)O(6))][Co(C(2)H(4))(4)], is one of only two known homoleptic ethyl-enemetalates. The cation and anion are well separated, which gives an unperturbed tetra-hedral anion as is expected for a formally Co(-I)d(10) metal center. The considerable elongation of the C=C bonds of the ethyl-ene ligands [average 1.401?(6)?Å], relative to that of free ethyl-ene (1.333?Å), is consistent with metal??* back-bonding models. One arm of the 2.2.2-cryptand (4,7,13,16,21,24-hexa-oxa-1,10-diaza-bicyclo-[8.8.8]hexa-cosa-ne) complexant is disordered and was modeled over two positions with a refined occupancy ratio of 0.559?(2):0.441?(2). In the crystal, the cationic K(2.2.2-cryptand) units are linked via C-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming inversion dimers. There are no other significant inter-molecular inter-actions in the crystal structure.

Project description:Single crystals of the title compound, [K(C18H36N2O6)][Mn(C44H24Cl4N4)(C7H7S)]·2C4H8O, were obtained by the solvent evaporation method. The MnII cation is coordinated by four pyrrole N atoms (Np) of the porphyrin ring and one S atom of the apical 4-methyl-benzene-thiol-ate ligand with the average Mn-Np and the apical Mn-S bond lengths being 2.160 (9) and 2.4642 (8) Å, respectively. Two tetra-hydro-furan solvent mol-ecules and a potassium cation chelated inside a [2.2.2]cryptand (4,7,13,16,21,24-hexa-oxa-1,10-di-aza-bicyclo[8.8.8]hexa-cosa-ne) are also present.

Project description:The title compound, (C(19)H(15)N(4))(2)[Co(NCS)(4)], has two crystallographycally different molecules of bis-(2,3,5-triphenyl-tetra-zolium) tetra-thio-cyanatecobaltate in the asymmetric unit. There are only minor geometric differences between them. Each cobalt(II) ion is coordinated by the N atoms of four NCS anions, showing the magnitude of the magnetic moment expected from the NCS(-) crystal field strength.

Project description:As part of a systematic investigation for a number of Fe(II) porphyrin complexes used as biomimetic models for cytochrome P450, crystals of the title compound, [K(C(18)H(36)N(2)O(6))][Fe(II)(C(64)H(64)N(8)O(4))(HS)], were prepared. The compound exhibits a non-planar conformation with major ruffling and saddling distortions. The average equatorial iron-pyrrole N atom [Fe-N(p) = 2.102?(2)?Å] bond length and the distance between the Fe(II) atom and the 24-atom core of the porphyrin ring (Fe-P(C)= 0.558?Å) are typical for high-spin iron(II) penta-coordinate porphyrinates. One of the tert-butyl groups in the structure is disordered over two sets with occupancies of 0.84 and 0.16.

The involvement of these large mol-ecules in the crystal structure of [Rb(18-crown-6)][Rb([2.2.2]-cryptand)]Rb(2)Sn(9)·5NH(3) leads to the formation of a new structural motif, namely one-dimensionally extended double strands running parallel to [100] and built by Sn(9) (4-) cages and Rb(+) cations. The double strands are shielded by 18-crown-6 and [2.2.2]-cryptand. The cations are additionally coordin-ated by ammonia mol-ecules. One of the four independent Rb(+) cations is disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.74?(2):0.26?(2) ratio.

The Fe atom is displaced by 0.219 (2) Å toward the trifluoro-methane-sulfonate anion from the 24-atom mean plane of the porphyrin, resulting in a distorted FeN(4)O square-based pyramidal geometry. One ethyl-ene group is disordered over two orientations in a 0.502 (6):0.498 (6) ratio.
