ABSTRACT: The Cu(II) atom in the title compound, [Cu(NCS)(2)(C(16)H(15)N(3)O)], is bonded to the N atoms of two thio-cyanate ions, and is N,N'-chelated by the Schiff base ligand. The four N atoms surround the metal atom to form a distorted square; the square environment is distorted towards a square pyramid by a long Cu?O inter-action. In the crystal, two C atoms of the pyrrolidin-2-one ring are disordered over two positions in a 1:1 ratio.

Project description:The Cu(II) atom in the title compound, [Cu(C(13)H(11)N(4)O)(NCO)], is N,N',O-chelated by the mono-deprotonated Schiff base ligand and it is also covalently bonded to the nitro-gen end of the cyanate ion. The Cu(II) atom shows a square-planar coordination that is distorted towards square-pyramidal owing to an inter-molecular Cu?N(cyanate) inter-action [2.623?(2)?Å], which gives a centrosymmetric dimer. In the square-planar description, the Cu(II) atom is displaced out of the square plane [r.m.s. deviation = 0.048?Å] by 0.084?(1)?Å in the direction of the apical occupant. In the crystal, adjacent complex dimers are linked by an amine N-H?N hydrogen-bond pair, also giving a centrosymmetric cyclic association [graph set R(2) (2)(8)], generating a linear chain parallel to [110].

Project description:The Cu(II) atom in the title compound, [CuCl(2)(C(16)H(15)N(3)O)]·H(2)O, is N,N',O-chelated by the neutral Schiff base ligand and exists in a square-pyramidal geometry. It is displaced by 0.316?(1)?Å out of the square plane (r.m.s. deviation = 0.015?Å) in the direction of the apical Cl atom. The apical Cl atoms of adjacent complex units are hydrogen-bond acceptors to two water mol-ecules, the inter-action generating a centrosymmetric dimer through a cyclic R(4) (2)(8) association.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(NCS)(C(17)H(20)N(4))]BF(4), the Cu(II) ion is five-coordinated by the four N atoms of the tetra-dentate Schiff base ligand and one N atom of a thio-cyanate ligand, thereby forming a square-pyramidal CuN(5) ccoordination geometry. The dihedral angle between the pyridine rings of the Schiff base is 55.58?(14)°. The F atoms of the tetra-fluoridoborate anion are disordered over two sets of sites with occupancies of 0.614?(3) and 0.386?(3). In the crystal, the components are linked by C-H?F inter-actions.

Crystal structures and Hirshfeld surface analysis of trans-bis-(thio-cyanato-κN)bis-{2,4,6-trimethyl-N-[(pyridin-2-yl)methyl-idene]aniline-κ2 N,N'}manganese(II) and trans-bis-(thio-cyanato-κN)bis-{2,4,6-trimethyl-N-[(pyridin-2-yl)methyl-idene]aniline-κ 2 N,N'}nickel(II)).

Project description:Two new mononuclear metal complexes involving the bidentate Schiff base ligand 2,4,6-trimethyl-N-[(pyridin-2-yl)methyl-idene]aniline (C15H16N2 or PM-TMA), [Mn(NCS)2(PM-TMA)2] (I) and [Ni(NCS)2(PM-TMA)2] (II), were synthesized and their structures determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Although the title compounds crystallize in different crystal systems [triclinic for (I) and monoclinic for (II)], both asymmetric units consist of one-half of the complex mol-ecule, i.e. one metal(II) cation, one PM-TMA ligand, and one N-bound thio-cyanate anion. In both complexes, the metal(II) cation is located on a centre of inversion and adopts a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment defined by four N atoms from two symmetry-related PM-TMA ligands in the equatorial plane and two N atoms from two symmetry-related NCS- anions in a trans axial arrangement. The tri-methyl-benzene and pyridine rings of the PM-TMA ligand are oriented at dihedral angles of 74.18 (7) and 77.70 (12)° for (I) and (II), respectively. The subtle change in size of the central metal cations leads to a different crystal packing arrangement for (I) and (II) that is dominated by weak C-H⋯S, C-H⋯π, and π-π inter-actions. Hirshfeld surface analysis and two-dimensional fingerprint plots were used to qu-antify these inter-molecular contacts, and indicate that the most significant contacts in packing are H⋯H [48.1% for (I) and 54.9% for (II)], followed by H⋯C/C⋯H [24.1% for (I) and 15.7% for (II)], and H⋯S/S⋯H [21.1% for (I) and 21.1% for (II)].

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu2(C19H31N4O)(OH)(NCS)2], the mol-ecular structure of the dinuclear complex reveals two penta-coordinated Cu(II) ions, which are bridged by the phenolate O atom of the ligand and by an exogenous hydroxide ion. The bridging atoms occupy equatorial positions in the coordination sphere of the metal atoms and complete the equatorial coordination planes with two ligand N atoms, the apical positions being occupied by thio-cyanate N atoms. The crystal structure also features ?-? stacking inter-actions involving the benzene rings with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.764?(4)Å. The crystal studied was a non-merohedral twin, with a refined BASF value of 0.203?(2).

Project description:There are two independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit of the title mol-ecule, C8H9N3S2, both of which exhibit an E conformation with the pyridine ring and di-thio-carbazate fragment located on opposite sides of the C=N bond. The pyridine ring and di-thio-carbazate group are approximately coplanar, with dihedral angles of 4.74?(1) and 8.77?(1)° between their planes in the two mol-ecules. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked to each other via N-H?N hydrogen bonds, forming zigzag chains parallel to [10-1].
