Tautomerism in 10-(hy-droxy-imino)-phenanthren-9-one.

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(14)H(9)NO(2), a static disorder exists between the keto-oxime and hy-droxy-nitroso tautomers, in an approximate ratio of 4.6:1, based on refined occupancies for disordered parts. No inter-molecular hydrogen bonding is present in the crystal structure. Instead, both tautomers exhibit similar intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title phenanthrenone compound, C(18)H(13)NO(2)S, the dihydro-phenanthrene ring system is not planar, with its central ring distorted to a screw-boat conformation. The essentially planar thia-zole ring [maximum deviation = 0.005?(1)?Å] is inclined at an inter-planar angle of 23.36?(5)° with respect to the mean plane through the dihydro-phenanthrene ring system. In the crystal packing, inter-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into infinite chains along the a axis. Weak inter-molecular C-H?? inter-actions further stabilize the crystal packing.

Project description:In the title compound, C(19)H(15)NO(3)S, the dihydro-phenanthrene unit is not planar, its central ring being distorted towards a sofa conformation. The essentially planar thia-zole ring [maximum deviation = 0.005 (1) Å] is inclined at a dihedral angle of 85.29 (5)° with respect to the mean plane formed through the dihydro-phenanthrene unit. In the crystal structure, pairs of inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link adjacent mol-ecules into inversion dimers. Inter-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds further inter-connect these dimers into chains along the a axis. The crystal structure is further stabilized by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯π inter-actions involving the thia-zole ring.

In the crystal, the mol-ecules are packed into layers lying parallel to the ab plane by π-stacking inter-actions between the benzene ring of one molecule and the C-N bond of the oxime group of another molecule; the shortest inter-molecular C⋯C separation within the layer is 3.412 (1) Å. The layers are connected by O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, C(27)H(47)NO, is a steroid derivative composed of a saturated carbon fused-ring framework with an alkyl side chain. Ring bond lengths have normal values with an average of 1.533?(2)?Å, while the cholestane side chain shows an average bond length of 1.533?(2)?Å. The three cyclohexane rings adopt chair conformations or close to chair conformations while the cyclopentane ring is twisted. The cholesterol side-chain is fully extended with a gauche-trans conformation of the terminal methyl groups. There are eight chiral centres in the molecule; the absolute configuration of these sites was determined from the structure presented. There are two molecules in the asymmetric unit; in one, the alkyl chain is disordered over two sets of sites [occupancy ratios of 0.50:0.50 and 0.67:0.33].

Project description:In the title Schiff base, C14H13NO4, which adopts the phenol-imine tautomeric form, the dihedral angle between the planes of the benzene and heterocyclic (r.m.s. deviation = 0.037 Å) rings is 53.31 (11)°. An intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond closes an S(6) ring. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds to generate C(11) chains propagating in the [010] direction. A weak C-H⋯O link is also observed, leading to the formation of R (5) 5(32) rings extending parallel to the (101) plane.

Project description:In the title compound, C(11)H(12)N(2)O(2)S, the thia-zole and phenyl rings are inclined at 56.99?(6)° to one another. The thia-zole ring is planar with an r.m.s. deviation for the five ring atoms of 0.0274?Å. The presence of the phenyl-imine substituent is confirmed with the C=N distance to the thia-zole ring of 1.2638?(19)?Å. The mol-ecule adopts a Z conformation with respect to this bond. The -OH group of the hy-droxy-ethyl substituent is disordered over two positions with relative occupancies 0.517?(4) and 0.483?(4). In the crystal, O-H?O hydrogen bonds, augmented by C-H?N contacts, form dimers with R(2) (2)(11) rings and generate chains along the b axis. Parallel chains are linked in an obverse fashion by weak C-H?S hydrogen bonds. C-H?O hydrogen bonds together with C-H?? contacts further consolidate the structure, stacking mol-ecules along the b axis.

Project description:Two independent mol-ecules comprise the asymmetric unit of the title cholestane derivative, C(29)H(49)NO(3) {systematic name: (3S,8S,9S,10R,13R,14S,17R)-17-[(1R)-1,5-dimethyl-hex-yl]-6-hy-droxy-imino-10,13-dimethyl-2,3,4,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17-tetra-deca-hydro-1H-cyclo-penta-[a]phenanthren-3-yl ace-tate}. The major differences between the mol-ecules relate to the relative orientations of the terminal acetyl [C-C-O-C torsion angles = -158.8?(3) and -81.7?(3)°] and alkyl groups [C-C-C-C = 168.9?(3) and 65.8?(4)°]. In the crystal, the independent mol-ecules associate via pairs of O-H?N hydrogen bonds, forming dimeric aggregates. Supra-molecular layers in the ab plane are mediated by C-H?O inter-actions.
