4-Diphenyl-phosphanyl-1,5-naphthyridine.

ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(20)H(15)N(2)P, contains two independent mol-ecules with similar structures. The 1,5-naphthyridine ring system is nearly planar, with maximum deviations of 0.010?(3) and 0.012?(3)?Å; its mean plane is oriented with respect to the two phenyl rings at 79.69?(12) and 84.00?(10)° in one mol-ecule, and at 74.25?(12) and 82.05?(11)° in the other. The two phenyl rings are twisted with respect to each other with a dihedral angle of 75.96?(14)° in one mol-ecule and 86.30?(13)° in the other.

Project description:In the title compound, C21H17N2P, the dihedral angles between the 1,5-naphthyridine ring system (r.m.s. deviation = 0.005 Å) and the phenyl rings are 89.18 (8) and 77.39 (8)°. The phenyl rings are almost perpendicular, making a dihedral angle of 88.12 (8)°. The only possible inter-molecular inter-action is a very weak aromatic π-π stacking inter-action [centroid-centroid separation = 3.898 (2) Å].

Project description:The title tetra-nuclear complex, [Au(4)(C(25)H(21)P(2))Cl(3)(C(25)H(22)P(2))]·2C(4)H(8)O, features two non-equivalent Ph(2)PCPPh(2) fragments, one of which represents the 'complete' mol-ecule (with two H atoms at the central C atom); each of the two P atoms of this mol-ecule is coordinated by an Au atom [Au-P = 2.2256 (13) and 2.2710 (13) Å], and these two Au atoms form an Au-Au bond [3.2945 (3) Å], thus closing the five-membered Au(2)P(2)C ring. The first of these Au atoms has a terminal chlorido ligand [Au-Cl = 2.2806 (12) Å], whereas the second Au atom forms a covalent bond with the central C atom of the bis-(diphenyl-phosphino)methyl group [Au-C = 2.114 (5) Å]; the latter group in turn coordinates with its P atoms the gold atoms of the Cl-Au-Au-Cl group [Au-P = 2.2356 (13) and 2.2338 (13), Au-Au = 3.3177 (3), Au-Cl = 2.3091 (12) and 2.2950 (13) Å], thus closing the second Au(2)P(2)C ring. The two such rings have different chemical functions, but both exhibit envelope conformations. However, the first (with different substituents at the Au atoms) is non-symmetrical with one of the P atoms in the flap position of the envelope; the other one has a conformation with mirror symmetry, and the gold-substituted C atom is displaced by 0.740 (5) Å from the almost exactly planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0038 Å) Au(2)P(2) group.

The dihedral angles between the phenyl rings bonded to each P atom are 51.74?(5) and 68.23?(4)°. The coordination around the N atom deviates from trigonal-pyrimidal geometry towards an almost planar arrangement between the N atom and the adjacent P and C atoms; the distance between the N atom and the plane formed by the adjacent C/P/P atoms is 0.098?(2)?Å.

Project description:The title compound, C(24)H(18)N(2), is the first structural example containing the 3,4-dihydro-benzo[b][1,6]naphthyridine fragment. It was synthesized from 2,4,6,8-tetra-phenyl-3,7-diaza-bicyclo-[3.3.1]nonan-9-one and was crystallized from a methanol-ethanol solution over two years as a racemate. The mean bond lengths of the two Ru complexes are Ru-C = 2.276?Å, Ru-P = 2.3816?Å, and Ru-Cl = 2.3924?Å. Both chloride ligands form only intra-molecular C-H?Cl inter-actions. Seven weak inter-molecular C-H?F inter-actions involving mainly arene H atoms consolidate the crystal packing, which reveals an approximate c/2 pseudo-translation relating the two independent Ru complex mol-ecules.

Both P atoms have a trigonal-pyramidal conformation. There is a short intra-molecular C-H⋯P contact with an H⋯P distance of 2.56 Å. The hydr-oxy group is involved in an intra-molecular O-H⋯π(phen-yl) inter-action. The crystal packing shows five very weak inter-molecular C-H⋯π contacts, with H⋯Cg distances between 3.26 and 3.39 Å (Cg is the centroid of a phenyl or cyclo-penta-dienyl ring).
