Complete genome sequence of a novel porcine parvovirus in China.

ABSTRACT: The porcine parvovirus JT strain (PPV-JT) was isolated from a piglet showing nonsuppurative myocarditis in Shandong, China, in 2010. The complete genomic sequence of PPV-JT, 4,941 bp long, was determined from clones made from replicative form (RF) DNA. The genomic analysis demonstrated that the PPV-JT might be involved in a recombination event, which will help us understand the molecular characteristics and evolutionary of PPV in China.

Project description:We report here the complete genomic sequence of the porcine parvovirus (PPV) N strain, isolated in 1989 from the viscera of a stillborn fetus farrowed by a gilt in Guangxi, southern China. Phylogenetic analyses suggest that the PPV-N strain is closely related to attenuated PPV NADL-2 strains. The PPV-N strain has good immunogenicity, genetic stability, and safety.

Project description:A new porcine parvovirus (PPV) was identified from pig lung tissues in the United States. It is most closely related to the recently identified PPV4 with overall genomic identities of 64.1 to 67.3%. Unlike PPV4, this virus lacks the additional open reading frame 3 (ORF3) and has a much longer ORF2. The name PPV5 is provisionally proposed.

A phylogenetic analysis of this genome reveals that it is highly similar to previously reported North American PPV-2 genomes. The complete PPV-2 sequence is 5,426 nucleotides long.

Complete genome sequence of a novel porcine enterovirus strain in China.

Project description:The porcine enteroviruses (PEVs) belong to the family Picornaviridae. We report a complete genome sequence of a novel PEV strain that is widely prevalent in pigs at least in central and eastern China. The complete genome consists of 7,390 nucleotides, excluding the 3' poly(A) tail, and has an open reading frame that maps between nucleotide positions 812 and 7318 and encodes a 2,168-amino-acid polyprotein. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 3CD and VP1 regions reveals that this PEV strain belongs to a species of PEV9 but may represent a novel sero-/genotype in CPE group III. We also report the major findings from bootscan analysis based on the whole genomes of PEVs in the present study and those available in GenBank.

The whole genome of strain NGPV-SC16 was 5,109 nucleotides long.

Complete genome sequence of a novel porcine epidemic diarrhea virus in south China.

Project description:Since early 2010, outbreaks of porcine epidemic diarrhea (PED) have been observed frequently in immunized swine herds in southern China. The suckling piglets are particularly susceptible to porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV), with a high mortality rate (90%). Recently, a virulent PEDV strain, GD-A, was isolated from an immunized-swine breeding farm in Guangdong, China. This report describes the complete genome sequence of GD-A, and the data will provide important insights into the variation of PEDV field isolates in southern China.

Project description:Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) infection, which causes acute diarrhea and dehydration in suckling piglets, has become a serious problem for the swine industry of China in recent years. In this study, a virulent PEDV strain, GD-1, was obtained from fecal samples from suckling piglets that suffered from severe diarrhea in 2011 in Guangdong, China. Here we describe the complete genome sequence of strain GD-1, which may be helpful in further understanding the molecular epidemiology and genetic diversity of PEDV field isolates in China.

We present here the complete genome sequence of a novel porcine orthoreovirus strain (GD-1) isolated from a piglet in southern China. Our data will facilitate future investigations of the molecular characteristics and epidemiology of porcine orthoreoviruses.

Genome sequence of Chinese porcine parvovirus strain PPV2010.

Project description:Porcine parvovirus (PPV) isolate PPV2010 has recently emerged in China. Herein, we analyze the complete genome sequence of PPV2010. Our results indicate that the genome of PPV2010 bears mixed characteristics of virulent PPV and vaccine strains. Importantly, PPV2010 has the potential to be a naturally attenuated candidate vaccine strain.
