ABSTRACT: In the title Schiff base complex, [Zn(C(14)H(9)Br(2)FNO)(2)], the Zn(II) atom is located on a twofold rotation axis and is coordinated by two O and two N atoms from two symmetry-related bidentate Schiff base ligands in a compressed tetrahedral geometry. The bond lengths and bond angles are within normal ranges. The dihedral angle between the least-squares planes of the aromatic rings within each ligand is 82.76?(17)°.

The coordination of the metal atom by the two N,O-bidentate ligands results in a squashed CoN(2)O(2) tetra-hedron. The six-membered chelate ring is an envelope, with the metal atom as the flap. The dihedral angle between the planes of the aromatic rings within each ligand is 84.1 (6)°.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Ni(C14H11FNO)2], contains one-half of the mol-ecule with the Ni(II) cation lying on an inversion centre coordinated by a bidentate Schiff base anion. The cationic Ni(II) center is in a distorted square-planar coordination environment chelated by the imine N and phenolate O donor atoms of the two Schiff base ligands. The N and O donor atoms of the two ligands are mutually trans with Ni-N and Ni-O bond lengths of 1.9242?(10) and 1.8336?(9)?Å, respectively. The fluoro-phenyl ring is almost orthogonal to the coordination plane and makes a dihedral angle of 82.98?(7)° with the phenolate ring. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into screw chains by weak C-H?F hydrogen bonds. Additional C-H?? contacts arrange the mol-ecules into sheets parallel to the ac plane.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu2(C9H10NO2)4], is built of discrete centrosymmetric dimers. The Cu(II) atoms are each five coordinated by two deprotonated Schiff base ligands that are bonded differently to the metal atoms. Of the two phenolate O atoms, one is coordinated to one Cu(II) atom, whereas another bridges the two metal atoms. The basal plane of the square pyramid around Cu(II) atoms is formed by the imino N and phenolate O atoms of the bidentate and the monodentate/bidentate Schiff base ligands. The bridging phenolate oxygen occupies the apical position of the coordination sphere with a considerably longer Cu-O bond length. In the crystal, the dimeric mol-ecules pack relative to each other in such a way that the Cu2O2 planes of adjacent dimers are orthogonal.
