Genome sequence and description of Alistipes senegalensis sp. nov.

ABSTRACT: Alistipes senegalensis strain JC50(T) is the type strain of A. senegalensis sp. nov., a new species within the Alistipes genus. This strain, whose genome is described here, was isolated from the fecal flora of an asymptomatic patient. A. senegalensis is an anaerobic Gram-negative rod-shaped bacterium. Here we describe the features of this organism, together with the complete genome sequence and annotation. The 4,017,609 bp long genome (1 chromosome, but no plasmid) contains 3,113 protein-coding and 50 RNA genes, including 5 rRNA genes.

Genome sequence and description of Timonella senegalensis gen. nov., sp. nov., a new member of the suborder Micrococcinae.

Project description:Timonella senegalensis strain JC301(T) gen. nov., sp. nov. is the type strain of T. senegalensis gen. nov., sp. nov., a new species within the newly proposed genus Timonella. This bacterial strain was isolated from the fecal flora of a healthy Senegalese patient. In this report, we detail the features of this organism, together with the complete genome sequence and annotation. Timonella senegalensis strain JC301(T) exhibits the highest 16S rRNA similarity (95%) with Sanguibacter marinus, the closest validly published bacterial species. The genome of T. senegalensis strain JC301(T) is 3,010,102-bp long, with one chromosome and no plasmid. The genome contains 2,721 protein-coding genes and 72 RNA genes, including 5 rRNA genes. The genomic annotation revealed that T. senegalensis strain JC301(T) possesses the complete complement of enzymes necessary for the de novo biosynthesis of amino acids and vitamins (except for riboflavin and biotin), as well as the enzymes involved in the metabolism of various carbon sources, chaperone genes, and genes involved in the regulation of polyphosphate and glycogen levels.

Project description:Using the culturomics strategy, a wide range of anaerobic bacteria was discovered including Anaeromassilibacillus senegalensis strain mt9T (= CSUR P1511 = DSM 102954), isolated from the gut microbiota of a 1-year-old Senegalese patient with kwashiorkor. This Gram-negative strain is a strictly anaerobic, spore-forming rod motile by a polar flagellum. The 3 511 289 bp long genome of this strain contains 3046 protein-coding and 49 RNA genes, including 45 tRNA and four rRNA genes, and exhibits a G+C content of 52.94%. Here we describe the features of this organism, together with the complete genome sequence and annotation.

Project description:Here we describe the basic characteristics of Corynebacterium pacaense strain Marseille-P2417T (= CSUR P2417), Alistipes megaguti strain Marseille-P5997T (= CSUR P5997) and Alistipes provencensis strain Marseille-P2431T (= CSUR P2431 = DSM 102308). The phenotypic criteria, the 16S ribosomal RNA sequencing and MALDI-TOF MS spectra analysis were used to identify and characterize these new bacteria species, which were isolated from fresh human stool specimens.
