Na(3)Al(AsO(4))(2).

ABSTRACT: The structure of the title compound tris-odium aluminium bis-(arsenate), Na(3)Al(AsO(4))(2), is built up from AlO(4) and AsO(4) corner-sharing tetra-hedra, forming an undulating two-dimensional framework parallel to (100). The layers are constituted of large Al(6)As(6)O(36) rings made up from six AlO(4) and AsO(4) tetra-hedra in which two sodium cations are situated, the third sodium cation being located in the inter-layer space. The structural relationships between the title compound and Na(3)Fe(PO(4))(2), NaAlCo(PO(4))(2) and Al(5)Co(3)(PO(4))(8) are discussed.

The cations are occupationally disordered and are located in the interlayer space. For both types of cations, distorted coordination polyhedra are observed.

Project description:Single crystals of trilithium(I) aluminium(III) bis-[dioxidomolybdenum(VI)] dioxide bis-[arsenate(V)], Li(3)AlMo(2)As(2)O(14), have been prepared by solid-state reaction at 788?K. The structure consists of AsO(4) tetra-hedra, AlO(6) octa-hedra and Mo(2)O(10) groups sharing corners to form a three-dimensional framework containing channels running respectively along the [100] and [010] directions, where the Li(+) ions are located. This structure is compared with compounds having (MX(2)O(12))(n) chains (M = Mo, Al and X = P, As) and others containing M(2)O(10) (M = Mo, Fe) dimers.

Project description:Potassium sodium silver tetra-niobium nona-oxide arsenate, K(0.12)Na(0.54)Ag(0.34)Nb(4)AsO(13), synthesized by solid-state reaction at 1123?K, adopts a three-dimensional framework delimiting tunnels running along [001] in which occupationally disordered sodium, silver, and potassium ions are located. Of the 11 atoms in the asymmetric unit (two Nb, one As, one Ag, one K, one Na and fiveO), nine are located on special positions: one Nb and the K, Ag, Na and two O atoms are situated on mirror planes, the other Nb is on a twofold rotation axis, and the As atom and one O atom are on sites of m2m symmetry.

Na?Co?(AsO?)(As?O?): a new sodium cobalt arsenate.

Project description:In the title compound, tris-odium dicobalt arsenate diarsenate, Na?Co?AsO?As?O?, the two Co atoms, one of the two As and three of the seven O atoms lie on special positions, with site symmetries 2 and m for the Co, m for the As, and 2 and twice m for the O atoms. The two Na atoms are disordered over two general and special positions [occupancies 0.72?(3):0.28?(3) and 0.940?(6):0.060?(6), respectively]. The main structural feature is the association of the CoO? octa-hedra in the ab plane, forming Co?O?? units, which are corner- and edge-connected via AsO? and As?O? arsenate groups, giving rise to a complex polyhedral connectivity with small tunnels, such as those running along the b- and c-axis directions, in which the Na? ions reside. The structural model is validated by both bond-valence-sum and charge-distribution methods, and the distortion of the coordination polyhedra is analyzed by means of the effective coordination number.

Project description:The vanadium oxide arsenate with formula K?V?O?(AsO?)?, dipotassium divanadium(IV) dioxide diarsenate, has been synthesized by solid-state reaction in an evacuated silica ampoule. Its structure is isotypic with K?V?O?(PO?)?. The framework is built up from corner-sharing VO? octa-hedra and AsO? tetra-hedra, creating an infinite [VAsO?](?) chain running along the a- and c-axis directions. The K? cations are located in hexa-gonal tunnels, which are delimited by the connection of the [VAsO?](?) chains.

Project description:Suitable single crystals of the title compound, barium dicobalt(II) bis-[orthoarsenate(V)], were prepared under hydro-thermal conditions. This phase belongs to a series of compounds with general formula AM(2)(XO(4))(2), where A = alkaline earth metal, M = Mg or a divalent first-row transition element, and X = P, As or V. BaCo(2)(AsO(4))(2) is isotypic with BaNi(2)(XO(4))(2) (X = P, V or As) and is characterized by brucite-like sheets of edge-sharing CoO(6) octa-hedra (3 symmetry) parallel to (001), with one-third of the octa-hedral positions being vacant. The sheets are capped above and below by AsO(4) tetra-hedra (3 symmetry) and are inter-connected by distorted BaO(12) cubocta-hedra ( symmetry).

Project description:The title compound, sodium dioxidomolybdenum(VI) arsenate(V), ?-NaMoO(2)AsO(4), was prepared by solid-state reaction at 953?K. In the crystal structure, the AsO(4) tetra-hedra and MoO(6) octa-hedra (both with m symmetry) share corner atoms to form a three-dimensional framework that delimits cavities parallel to [010] where disordered six-coordinated sodium cations (half-occupation) are located. Structural relationships between the different orthoarsenates of the AMoO(2)AsO(4) series (A = Ag, Li, Na, K and Rb) are discussed.

Role of Al in Na-ZSM-5 zeolite structure on catalyst stability in butene cracking reaction.

Project description:The Na-ZSM-5 catalysts (SiO2/Al2O3 molar ratio = 20, 35, and 50) were prepared by rapid crystallization method to investigate their performance in butene cracking reaction. The XRD, XRF, NH3-TPD, FT-IR, TPO, UV-Vis, and 1H, 27Al, 29Si MAS NMR techniques were used to identify the physical and chemical properties of Na-ZSM-5 catalysts. The silanol group (Si-OH) was the main acid site of Na-ZSM-5, and it was proposed to be the active site for the butene cracking reaction. The butene conversion and coke formation were associated with the abundance of silanol groups over the Na-ZSM-5 catalyst. The dealumination, resulting in the deformation of tetrahedral framework aluminum species was a key factor for Na-ZSM-5 catalyst deactivation, because of the Si-O-Al bond breaking and formation of Si-O-Si bond. The stability of the Si-O-Al bond was linked to the molar number of sodium since the Na atom interacts with the Si-O-Al bond to form Si-ONa-Al structure, which enhances the stability of the silanol group. Therefore, the Si-ONa-Al in zeolite framework was an essential structure to retain the catalyst stability during the reaction. The Na-ZSM-5 with the lowest SiO2/Al2O3 molar ratio showed the best performance in this study resulting the highest propylene yield and catalyst stability.
