Complete Genome Sequence of the Novel Duck Circovirus Strain GH01 from Southwestern China.

ABSTRACT: A novel duck circovirus (DuCV) strain, designated GH01, was isolated from ducklings in southwestern China. We report the genome sequence of GH01 and the genomic organization and genetic relationship to other DuCVs. The availability of the genome sequence will be helpful to investigations of epidemiology and the evolutionary biology of this organism and the development of preventive vaccines.

Complete genome sequence of a novel field strain of rearranged porcine circovirus type 2 in southern China.

Project description:We report here the complete genomic sequence of a novel porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) strain, which is supposed to be the result of natural genetic recombination between the ORF1 gene of genotype PCV2b-1B and the ORF2 gene of PCV2b-1C. Further analyses revealed that this novel PCV2 strain arose from recombination between PCV2a and PCV2b strains within the ORF2 gene. To our knowledge, this is the first report of both inter- and intragenotype PCV2 gene rearrangement in the field, and it will help in understanding the epidemiology and molecular characteristics of porcine circovirus type 2(PCV2) in southern China.

Project description:Porcine circovirus 2 (PCV2) strain 102 belongs to the PCV2b-1C subtype, and its sole structural protein (Cap) exhibits high homology with that of other PCV2b isolates reported in South Korea, China, and the United States. Strain 102 contains a new mutation (R37H) in the domain of the nuclear localization signal (NLS) of the Cap.

Genome Sequences of a Novel Recombinant Duck Circovirus in China.

Project description:In this study, YN26/2013, a novel recombinant duck circovirus (DuCV), was isolated from a Muscovy duck in Yunnan Province, southern China. The whole genome of YN26/2013 consists of 1,987 nucleotides (nt), the same genomic size as that of the DuCV-2 genotype. However, YN26/2013 shares 91.5 to 94.3% nucleotide identity similarity with previously reported type I (DuCV-1) viruses. Importantly, a novel putative recombinant event between DuCV-1 and DuCV-2 was identified as occurring within the 987- to 1111-nt region of the YN26/2013 genome.

Project description:We report here the complete genomic sequence of a novel duck circovirus (DuCV) strain, GX1104, isolated from Guangxi pockmark ducks in Guangxi, China. The whole nucleotide sequence had the highest homology (97.2%) with the sequence of strain TC/2002 (GenBank accession number AY394721.1) and had a low homology (76.8% to 78.6%) with the sequences of other strains isolated from China, Germany, and the United States. Complete genome sequence of the novel duck hepatitis B virus strain SCP01 from Sichuan Cherry Valley duck.

Project description:BACKGROUND:The duck hepatitis B virus (DHBV) strain, designated SCP01, was isolated and identified from a Sichuan Cherry Valley duck in Southwestern China. To determine the origination and evolution of this isolated strain, we carried out complete genome sequencing of this strain. FINDINGS:Sequencing of the nucleotide sequence of DHBV strain SCP01 revealed a genome size of 3021 bp that contained three open reading frames, designated as C, S, and P, which were consistent with those of other duck hepatitis B viruses nucleotide sequences available in the GenBank of NCBI. Sequence comparisons based on the full-length genomic sequences showed that the DHBV SCP01 strain had the highest similarity (99.64 %) with the sequence of strain DHBV-XY, but had a lower similarity (90.04 %) with the sequence of strain DHBV CH5 isolated from Southwestern China. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the DHBV-XY and DHBV SCP01 formed a branch that was clearly distinct from the other strains. CONCLUSION:This study show that the DHBV SCP01 strain from Sichuan belonged to "Western" isolates, while the DHBV CH5 from Sichuan belonged to "Chinese" isolates. These data will promote further research into the evolutionary biology, epidemiology and pathobiology of hepadnavirus infections. In addition, continuing duck hepatitis B virus surveillance in poultry is critical to understand the patterns of DHBV infection, and to find further animal infection models to study HBV infection.
