ABSTRACT: In the mononuclear title complex, [ZnCl2(C15H16N4O)], the Zn(II) cation is five-coordinated in a strongly distorted square-pyramidal environment by two Cl(-) anions and a neutral tridentate Schiff base ligand. The Zn(II) cation is chelated by the carbonyl O atom, the imine N atom and the pyridine N atom, which causes a slight loss of planarity for the ligand; the dihedral angle between the aromatic rings is 4.61?(8)°.

Project description:In the title compound, [Zn(NCS)2(C24H22N4O)]·C3H7NO, the Zn(II) cation is N,N',N''-chelated by one 2-({4-[2,6-bis-(pyridin-2-yl)pyridin-4-yl]phen-yl}(meth-yl)amino)-ethanol ligand and coordinated by two thio-cyanate anions in a distorted N5 trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. In the mol-ecule, the three pyridine rings are approximately coplanar [maximum deviation = 0.026?(5)?Å], and the mean plane of the three pyridine rings is twisted to the benzene ring with a small dihedral angle of 5.9?(2)°. In the crystal, complex mol-ecules are linked by weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds into supra-molecular chains propagated along [110]; ?-? stacking is observed between adjacent chains [centroid-centroid distance = 3.678?(4)?Å]. Project description:The title compound, C(15)H(15)N(3)O, was obtained by a condensation reaction between o-amino-acetophenone and benzoyl hydrazine. The mol-ecule displays an E configuration about the C=N bond. Intra-molecular N-H?N hydrogen bonds are formed between the 2-amino-phenyl and imine groups. In the crystal, dimers are formed between mol-ecules linked by inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds from the 2-amino-phenyl group. In addition there are inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds between the amine and carbonyl groups of adjacent mol-ecules. Project description:In the title Schiff base compound, C19H17N3O, the configuration about the C=N bond is E. The mol-ecule is non-planar, with the phenolic and pyridine rings being inclined to the central benzene ring by 56.59?(4) and 15.13?(14)°, respectively. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by pairs of O-H?N hydrogen bonds, forming inversion dimers. The dimers are connected to neighbouring dimers by N-H?O hydrogen bonds and C-H?? inter-actions, forming layers parallel to the bc plane. The layers are linked by offset ?-? inter-actions [inter-centroid distance = 3.779?(2)?Å], forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure. Quantum chemical calculations of the mol-ecule are in good agreement with the solid-state structure.
