ABSTRACT: In the title gem-dinitro-azetidinium chloride salt, C3H6N3O4(+)·Cl(-), the cations and anions lie on a mirror plane. The azetidine ring is virtually planar, with a mean deviation from the plane of 0.0569 Å. The dihedral angle between the two nitro groups is 90.00 (5)°. In the crystal, the ions are linked by N-H⋯Cl interactions, forming a chain along the c-axis direction, and C-H⋯O inter-actions, forming a layer parallel to (010).

Project description:THE TITLE COMPOUND [SYSTEMATIC NAME: 2,2'-dinitro-4,4'-(propane-2,2-di-yl)diphenol], C(15)H(14)N(2)O(6), crystallizes with two mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. Both have a trans conformation for their OH groups, and in each, the two aromatic rings are nearly orthogonal, with dihedral angles of 88.30?(3) and 89.62?(2)°. The nitro groups are nearly in the planes of their attached benzene rings, with C-C-N-O torsion angles in the range 1.21?(17)-4.06?(17)°, and they each accept an intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bond from their adjacent OH groups. One of the OH groups also forms a weak inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bond.

Project description:In the cation of the title hydrated salt, C(11)H(9)N(4)O(4) (+)·Cl(-)·H(2)O, the six-membered rings are inclined to each other at 79.0 (1)° and an intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond occurs. In the crystal, N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds link two cations and two anions into centrosymmetric group, and O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds involving the water mol-ecules further link these groups into chains in [101]. An O-H⋯O inter-action is also present. The water mol-ecule is disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.555 (13):0.445 (13) ratio.

Azetidinium Lead Halide Ruddlesden-Popper Phases.

Project description:A family of Ruddlesden-Popper (n = 1) layered perovskite-related phases, Az2PbClxBr4-x with composition 0 ≤ x ≤ 4 were obtained using mechanosynthesis. These compounds are isostructural with K2NiF4 and therefore adopt the idealised n = 1 Ruddlesden-Popper structure. A linear variation in unit cell volume as a function of anion average radius is observed. A tunable bandgap is achieved, ranging from 2.81 to 3.43 eV, and the bandgap varies in a second-order polynomial relationship with the halide composition.
